New Delhi, Sep 15 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah commended the security forces on Monday for a significant achievement against the Maoists in Jharkhand, reaffirming the government’s commitment to eradicate Left Wing Extremism (LWE) nationwide in the near future.
“The battalion and state police have accomplished a remarkable victory in an anti-Naxal initiative. During this operation, the infamous Naxal leader with a bounty of Rs 1 crore, CCM Sahdev Soren also known as Parvesh, has been neutralized,” stated HM Shah in a post on X.
“Moreover, two other high-value Naxals — Raghunath Hembram, alias Chanchal, and Birsen Ganjhu, known as Ramkhelawan — have also been eliminated by the security forces,” he added.
As a result of this operation, Maoism has been fully eradicated from the Bokaro area in northern Jharkhand. The entire nation will soon be liberated from the Maoist threat, he emphasized.
Previously, in a significant strike against the Maoist rebellion, three Maoists were killed during a coordinated operation by police and security forces in the Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand on Monday.
The encounter occurred around 6 A.M. in the Panitiri jungle under the jurisdiction of Girhor police station, near the Bokaro-Giridih border. Security forces retrieved the bodies of Soren and two other Maoists following the gunfight.
According to officials, a collaborative team of CoBRA Commandos and police from Giridih and Hazaribagh confronted the CPI (Maoist) faction led by Soren.
The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) reported that the troops from 209 CoBRA and local police initiated an operation during which “an exchange of fire ensued between the troops and Maoists. The forces neutralized three Maoists and confiscated three AK-47 rifles.”
The CRPF confirmed the identities of those neutralized in the operation. Sahadev Soren was a Central Committee Member with a bounty of Rs 1 crore on his head. Raghunath Hembram was a Special Area Committee Member, carrying a bounty of Rs 25 lakh, while Birsen Ganjhu was a Zonal Committee Member with a bounty of Rs 10 lakh on his head. All three individuals were neutralized.
Officials reported no casualties among security personnel during the operation.
