Patna, July 30 (NationPress) RJD's influential figure and current MLA from Danapur, Ritlal Yadav, made a shocking plea in the Patna Civil Court on Wednesday, requesting euthanasia before the judge.
During his emotional court appearance, Ritlal stated, “Huzoor, grant me euthanasia (the act of deliberately ending a life to alleviate suffering). Numerous cases are being filed against me. I have no one to support me.”
The courtroom was taken aback as the MLA appeared from Bhagalpur Central Jail, where he has been held since May 1, 2025, after being transferred from Beur Jail in Patna.
Sources indicate that Ritlal Yadav is housed in a high-security T-cell in Bhagalpur jail, previously occupied by notorious don-turned-politician Anant Singh, who is currently in Beur Jail.
Ritlal Yadav had turned himself in at the Danapur court on April 17 in relation to an alleged extortion case involving a demand of Rs 50 lakh from a builder.
After his surrender, he was placed in Beur Jail. However, his frequent interactions with other inmates raised red flags among law enforcement.
Citing intelligence, the Patna police feared that Yadav might coordinate criminal endeavors from behind bars.
A comprehensive report was submitted to the Jail Department, leading to his transfer to Bhagalpur.
During the hearing in the MP-MLA court, Ritlal Yadav not only sought mercy but also requested a return to Beur Jail, citing isolation and lack of legal assistance in Bhagalpur.
“I am exhausted. I lack a support network here. Please allow me to return to Beur,” he implored the judge.
As Ritlal Yadav confronts multiple legal challenges, a fresh controversy has emerged regarding his wife, Rinku Kumari, who is a contractual government school teacher.
A report submitted by ADG (Operations) Kundan Krishnan to the Education Department alleges Rinku has breached service conduct rules by partnering with Vijay Construction Company while still in government employment.
Records reveal that Rinku Kumari has been stationed at the same primary school in Kothwan Mushari, Patna, since July 1, 2006.
She reportedly became a partner in the construction firm on November 11, 2017, which is a violation of Rule 16(1) of the Bihar Government Servants Code of Conduct, 1976, prohibiting government employees from engaging in private business.
