Hyderabad, Sep 14 (NationPress) In a disturbing event, a father has taken the life of his ailing three-year-old son and discarded the body in the Musi River in Hyderabad.
The tragic occurrence transpired in the Bandlaguda district of Chandrayangutta on Friday night but was uncovered late Saturday following the father's confession during police interrogation.
Authorities, aided by the HYDRAA and the Disaster Response Force (DRF), commenced a search for the child's body in the Musi River on Sunday.
As per police reports, Mohammed Akbar (35), a local vegetable vendor, admitted to murdering his son Mohammed Anas and disposing of the body from the Nayapul bridge.
The child had been suffering from health issues, which frequently sparked disputes between Akbar and his wife, Sana Begum.
On the night of the incident, after Sana left for her hospital caretaker duties, Akbar allegedly strangled Anas with a pillow. He then concealed the body in a bag, transported it by bike, and discarded it into the river.
Later, Akbar reported his son missing to the police, claiming that relatives had taken Anas but had not returned him.
However, police grew suspicious when they examined Akbar's mobile device, noting he had not received any calls about his son's whereabouts. CCTV footage showed him departing his home early with a bag, leading to his eventual confession.
The police have since filed charges against Akbar and commenced a search operation for the child's body in the Musi River on Saturday evening, which continued into Sunday.
Personnel from HYDRAA and DRF are actively involved in the search, with officials concerned that the body may have been swept away due to increased water flow from recent flood releases.
