New Delhi, Sep 14 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch two new trains for Saharsa district in Bihar on Monday, September 15, significantly enhancing rail connectivity in the area.
The inauguration will take place virtually from Purnia via video conferencing.
As stated by Samastipur Division DRM Jyoti Prakash Mishra, Saharsa will receive the Amrit Bharat Express, which will operate directly to Amritsar, and the Vande Bharat Express, which will commence from Forbesganj and pass through Saharsa before concluding at Danapur.
“Tomorrow, Saharsa will be bestowed with its direct Amrit Bharat Express to Amritsar and the Vande Bharat Express making a stop here. Both trains will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister,” Mishra informed reporters during an inspection at Saharsa Junction on Sunday.
The DRM further noted that under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, a new station building for Saharsa Junction is currently under construction with a budget of Rs 44 crore. However, the inauguration of the new building has been postponed due to incomplete works.
“The inauguration of the station building will not occur tomorrow as certain tasks, such as the installation of air-conditioning units in the offices and VIP waiting room, as well as lifts and escalators, remain unfinished. The contractor has been directed to complete the pending work within the next three to four days,” Mishra announced.
Once finalized, the new structure is anticipated to offer modern amenities and improved facilities for rail passengers.
The launch of these two new trains is regarded as a pivotal advancement for the inhabitants of the Kosi and Mithila regions, who have long sought enhanced connectivity to major urban centers.
While the Amrit Bharat Express will primarily serve long-distance travelers heading to North India, the Vande Bharat Express will facilitate quicker regional connectivity between eastern and central Bihar.
