Vadodara, March 23 (NationPress) In a significant operation against illegal alcohol consumption, the Jarod Police of Gujarat conducted a raid in an open area within the rural outskirts of Vadodara, apprehending seven individuals, including a GRD personnel, for public drinking.
An official revealed that the action was initiated following a tip-off, resulting in a late-night raid where the suspects were found visibly intoxicated.
“A patrolling unit received alerts about a group indulging in alcohol and causing a public nuisance near the Vadodara-Halol service road. Acting promptly, the officers arrived at the scene and discovered the group gathered in a circle surrounded by alcohol bottles, beer cans, and water containers,” he stated.
He mentioned that the police, with witnesses present, executed the raid and apprehended all seven individuals.
The arrested individuals were identified as Dhanrajsinh Kanubhai Chauhan (GRD personnel) from Abrampura, Waghodia, along with Pankajkumar Bhikhubhai Parmar, Arpit Sureshbhai Solanki, Ravindrasinh Sureshsinh Padhiar, Kishansinh Dolatsinh Jadav, Karansinh Ajabsinh Parmar, and Vijaysinh Kalidas Rathodia from Vadodara and neighboring areas.
“During the operation, police confiscated mobile devices, vehicles, and cash totaling approximately Rs 4.06 lakh. The suspects were notably intoxicated and could not provide any legal documentation for alcohol consumption,” the official noted.
He further stated that during interrogation, GRD personnel Dhanrajsinh Chauhan admitted that the liquor was sourced from Vijaysinh alias 'China' Kalidas Rathodia, a resident of Asoj.
Additionally, it was disclosed that the other accused were engaged in various professions such as photography, DJ sound system services, and private sector jobs.
“A formal complaint has been lodged against all seven suspects at Jarod Police Station, with further legal proceedings in progress,” he added.
The official also emphasized that the police are intensifying their efforts to locate the bootlegger who provided the liquor.
