New Delhi, Sep 20 (NationPress) - In a groundbreaking move towards doorstep governance, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta unveiled the nation's first government office on wheels this Saturday. This initiative aims to eliminate the necessity for citizens to visit various departments to address their issues and access services.
“A strong democracy is built on resolving citizens' problems right at their doorsteps. The mobile office stands as a significant achievement, acting as a channel between the government and its people,” Gupta stated during the inauguration of the ‘MLA on Wheels - Rekha Sarkar Aapke Dvaar’ at the MLA office located on Old Pankha Road in the Janakpuri constituency.
She noted that the launch of the ‘MLA on Wheels’ service coincided with the ongoing ‘Seva Pakhwada’, commemorating the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Local grievances, essential services, and public interest matters will now be tackled directly in the community. The ‘Government at Your Doorstep’ program will facilitate quicker services, efficient processes, and transparent governance,” she emphasized.
The primary goal of this special initiative is to make governance accessible to the populace, thereby reducing the necessity for them to visit government offices constantly.
The Chief Minister remarked that PM Modi has consistently advocated that genuine leadership lies in serving the people.
She added that this innovative mobile office initiative reflects the Prime Minister’s vision that the role of an elected representative is one of service and commitment, rather than power.
Gupta highlighted that this mobile office will particularly assist mothers, women, the elderly, and persons with disabilities, who often struggle to travel. This vehicle will come to their homes, engage with them, and ensure their issues are addressed.
The launch event was attended by local MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat and Delhi’s Home, Urban Development, Education, and Energy Minister Ashish Sood.
Sood mentioned that the mobile office will traverse the constituency, directly reaching out to the public, documenting their grievances, and forwarding them to the relevant departments.
A laptop, stenographer, and clerk have been included in the vehicle to guarantee that citizens’ concerns are adequately recorded and quickly relayed to the MLA for immediate action, he stated.
Sood expressed that the Chief Minister’s launch of the mobile office is a truly innovative approach to connect citizens with the essence of “Government at Your Doorstep”.
He noted that extensive research had been conducted for this initiative, revealing that no such mobile office system exists anywhere else in the country.
