New Delhi, April 15 (NationPress) India on Tuesday criticized Pakistan for issuing motivated and unfounded comments regarding the Waqf Bill, highlighting Pakistan's own poor record in safeguarding minority rights.

"We categorically reject the motivated and unfounded remarks made by Pakistan concerning the Waqf Amendment Act approved by the Parliament of India. Pakistan has no standing to comment on issues that are internal to India," stated Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in response to inquiries from the media regarding Pakistan's statements on the Waqf Bill.

"Pakistan would be better off examining its own poor record in protecting minority rights rather than lecturing others," he further remarked.

The implementation of the Unified Waqf Management, Empowerment, Efficiency, and Development Act, 2025 (UMEED Act) has been described as a significant milestone in the reform of Waqf laws from 1913 to 2025 aimed at social welfare through Waqf properties.

“The modifications in Waqf laws in India from 1913 to 2025 demonstrate a robust commitment to safeguarding and managing Waqf properties for societal benefit while ensuring an effective administrative system. Each law was designed to address contemporary issues while maintaining the primary objective of Waqf endowments," the Ministry of Minority Affairs conveyed in a recent social media update.

The government believes that the Waqf (Amendment) Act 2025 represents a crucial step toward making Waqf management more transparent, accountable, and inclusive.

Numerous Indian leaders have addressed the concerns and misconceptions regarding the Bill, affirming that the Waqf committees will continue to be led by Muslims, with no religious or community bias.

"The Waqf Amendment Bill is designed to benefit Muslims. It will assist the underprivileged among them and provide an opportunity for renewed development," stated BJP national spokesperson and former Union Minister, Syed Shahnawaz Hussain.

As was the case with the Citizenship Amendment Act, Pakistan has attempted to propagate misconceptions about this bill, he added. "Don't succumb to propaganda... PM Narendra Modi is dedicated to the principle of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas," Hussain stated.
