Can Lies Secure a Mandate? BJP Responds to LoP Gandhi’s ‘Vote Adhikar Yatra’

Synopsis

The BJP's recent criticism of Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav during their ‘Vote Adhikar Yatra’ raises questions about the effectiveness of misinformation in electoral politics. Can these tactics truly sway public opinion? Explore the unfolding political dynamics and the BJP's rebuttals.

Key Takeaways

  • BJP criticizes Congress and RJD for spreading misinformation.
  • The Vote Adhikar Yatra is a major political campaign in Bihar.
  • Over 20 districts will be traversed during the yatra.

New Delhi, Aug 20 (NationPress) The BJP on Wednesday directed criticism at Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, along with Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Tejashwi Yadav, regarding their ongoing ‘Vote Adhikar Yatra’. The party accused them of spreading falsehoods to mislead the electorate, claiming such strategies would never yield them a mandate.

The sharp retort followed LoP Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav launching the 1,300 km-long ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ from Sasaram in Bihar, aimed at garnering support against what the Opposition INDIA Bloc describes as “vote chori” (vote theft) by the NDA.

Speaking to IANS, BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi remarked, “Rahul Gandhi does not trust his own party members, who understand the realities on the ground. His disbelief in them has led him into a trap.”

“They will continue to make this error until they stop viewing democracy as a family dynasty. They think they can confuse the public with lies and secure a mandate, but this is their misconception. One cannot ensnare the lake of truth with the reel of deception. Ultimately, the truth will prevail before the nation,” he stated.

Another BJP leader, Gourav Vallabh, also launched a sharp critique of the leadership of Congress and RJD.

Rahul Gandhi claims that Tejashwi Yadav should become Chief Minister, and in turn, Tejashwi is advocating for Rahul. However, let us be clear — being born into a certain family does not automatically qualify someone for the Prime Minister's position. What skills do they bring aside from their surnames? The only advantage is that Rahul Gandhi hails from the family of Indira and Rajiv Gandhi, while Tejashwi Yadav is the son of Lalu Prasad Yadav. Beyond that, nothing more exists. Repeating such slogans will not lead to success,” Vallabh asserted.

Meanwhile, LoP Gandhi addressed his supporters in Sasaram on Sunday, characterizing the yatra as a “fight to preserve the Constitution.”

He accused the Election Commission of India (ECI) of enabling a “conspiracy to steal elections” via its ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists in Bihar.

The ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ will pass through over 20 districts in the election-bound Bihar, including Aurangabad, Gaya, Nawada, Nalanda, Sheikhpura, Lakhisarai, Munger, Bhagalpur, Katihar, Purnea, Araria, Supaul, Madhubani, Darbhanga, Sitamarhi, East and West Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Chapra, and Ara.
