New Delhi, Jan 30 (NationPress) India is rapidly emerging as the premier launch destination for the world, with an unprecedented number of foreign satellites being deployed from the nation over the past decade, as stated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday.
In a post on the social media platform X, the PM shared three infographics, with the first declaring: "India's the leading launch pad globally".
He noted that "398 foreign satellites have been launched since 2014 (10 years)."
In stark contrast, only "35 foreign satellites" were launched during the 35 years leading up to 2014.
The inaugural major rocket launch from Sriharikota occurred with the Satellite Launch Vehicle (SLV) mission on August 10, 1979.
"India is the hub for satellite launches," declared the PM in the second infographic posted on X.
This graphic revealed that "457 satellites were launched since 2014 (10 years)."
In comparison, merely "106 satellites" were launched in the 35 years before 2014.
"When it comes to the space sector, place your bets on India!" he proclaimed in the post.
Earlier, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh also emphasized India's rising prominence in commercial space launches.
"Currently, 90 percent of foreign satellite launches are executed through ISRO, showcasing global confidence in our capabilities," he remarked.
He credited this success to reforms implemented over the last decade, which included opening the space sector to private companies, fostering increased innovation, investment, and international partnerships.
On January 30, ISRO achieved a significant landmark of 100 launches from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota.
The GSLV-F15 rocket successfully launched at 6:23 a.m., carrying the NVS-02 navigation satellite into orbit, further enhancing the nation's space exploration accomplishments.
ISRO has set a target of conducting another "100 missions in the next five years".
PM Modi remarked that this remarkable achievement reflects the vision, dedication, and commitment of the nation’s scientists and engineers.
