New Delhi, Dec 30 (NationPress): Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Tuesday that India has become a focal point of global interest due to the innovative spirit of its citizens as he detailed the reforms implemented by his administration, particularly this year.
"At present, the world views India with optimism and trust. They recognize how swiftly progress has been amplified with next-generation reforms that span multiple sectors and enhance the nation’s growth capabilities," the Prime Minister noted in an article shared on LinkedIn.
"I have often told many that India has boarded the Reform Express. The principal engine driving this Reform Express is India’s demographics, especially our youth and the unyielding spirit of our populace," he added.
PM Modi emphasized that 2025 will be a landmark year for India, marking a commitment to reforms as a sustained national mission, building on the strides made over the last 11 years. The nation has modernized its institutions, streamlined governance, and fortified the groundwork for enduring, inclusive growth.
"We have decisively advanced… with heightened aspirations, accelerated execution, and profound transformation. The reforms aim at empowering citizens to live with dignity, allowing entrepreneurs to innovate confidently, and ensuring institutions operate with transparency and trust," he elaborated.
Quoting specific examples of the reforms his government has enacted, PM Modi noted the implementation of GST 2.0, which features a streamlined two-slab structure of 5 percent and 18 percent. This has alleviated the financial load on households, MSMEs, farmers, and sectors reliant on labor. The goal is to promote dispute resolution and improve compliance.
This reform has positively influenced consumer confidence and demand, leading to increased sales during the festive season, he mentioned.
In other noteworthy decisions, he pointed out that, for the first time, individuals earning up to Rs 12 lakh annually will not be subject to any income tax.
The outdated Income Tax Act of 1961 has been replaced with the more straightforward Income Tax Act, 2025, providing unprecedented relief for the middle class, the Prime Minister remarked.
These reforms collectively signify India’s shift towards a transparent, technology-driven tax administration, he added.
Addressing the reform boost for small and medium enterprises, the Prime Minister noted that the definition of "small companies" has been broadened to encompass firms with turnovers up to Rs 100 crore. This change will reduce compliance burdens and associated costs for numerous companies.
The reform permitting 100 percent FDI in Indian insurance firms will enhance insurance penetration and security for citizens. It will also foster greater competition, offering better insurance options and improved service delivery, he argued.
PM Modi further mentioned that the Securities Market Code Bill has been introduced in Parliament, aiming to improve governance standards in SEBI, enhance investor protection, reduce compliance burdens, and facilitate a technology-driven securities market for a developed Bharat.
He also highlighted the passage of five significant maritime legislations during a single Parliamentary session: the Bills of Lading Act, 2025; the Carriage of Goods by Sea Bill, 2025; the Coastal Shipping Bill, 2025; the Merchant Shipping Bill, 2025; and the Indian Ports Bill, 2025.
These reforms simplify documentation, ease dispute resolution, and lower logistics costs. Outdated laws from 1908, 1925, and 1958 have also been replaced, he added.
PM Modi brought attention to Jan Vishwas, which has concluded the era of criminalization by abolishing hundreds of obsolete laws. Through the Repealing and Amendment Bill, 2025, a total of 71 laws have been repealed.
He further noted that to enhance the ease of doing business, 22 QCOs were revoked across sectors like synthetic fibers, yarns, plastics, polymers, and base metals, while 53 QCOs were suspended in various categories, including steel, engineered products, electricals, alloys, and consumer goods, covering a wide range of industrial and consumer materials.
This will boost India’s share of apparel exports, lower production costs in various industries such as footwear and automobiles, and ensure reduced prices for domestic consumers in electronics, bicycles, and automotive products, PM Modi stated.
Highlighting the historic labor reforms, PM Modi mentioned that labor laws have been restructured, merging 29 fragmented laws into four modern codes as part of the reform process.
India has established a labor framework that protects workers' interests while enhancing the business ecosystem. The reforms emphasize fair wages, timely payment, improved industrial relations, social security, and safer workplaces, ensuring greater female participation in the workforce. Unorganized workers, including contract workers, are now included in ESIC and EPFO, broadening the formal workforce's coverage, PM Modi noted.
The Prime Minister also underscored the trade agreements signed with New Zealand, Oman, and the UK. These will augment investments, stimulate job creation, and encourage local entrepreneurs, reinforcing India’s standing as a reliable and competitive partner in the global economy. The FTA with the European Free Trade Association, comprising Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein, has been activated. This signifies India’s first FTA with developed European nations, he added.
The Prime Minister asserted that the SHANTI Act is a transformative milestone in India’s clean-energy and technology journey. It establishes a robust framework for the secure and responsible expansion of nuclear science and technology, enabling India to meet the growing energy needs of the AI era, including powering data centers, advanced manufacturing, green hydrogen, and high-tech industries.
It also promotes the peaceful use of nuclear technologies in healthcare, agriculture, food security, water management, industry, research, and environmental sustainability, aiding inclusive growth and enhancing quality of life; it opens new avenues for private sector engagement, innovation, and skills development, creating opportunities for India’s youth to lead in pioneering technologies and next-gen energy solutions, PM Modi stated.
This is a prime opportunity for investors, innovators, and organizations to collaborate with India, to invest, innovate, and construct a clean, resilient, and future-ready energy ecosystem, he remarked.
The Prime Minister mentioned that the Viksit Bharat - G RAM G Act, 2025, raises the employment guarantee from 100 to 125 days.
This will increase spending on strengthening rural infrastructure and livelihoods. The goal is to transform rural work into a means of ensuring higher incomes and improved assets.
PM Modi also noted that the Education Reforms Bill has been presented in Parliament, and a unified higher education regulator will be established.
Multiple overlapping bodies such as the UGC, AICTE, and NCTE will be consolidated into the Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhishthan.
What makes the reforms of 2025 remarkable is not only their scope but also their underlying principles. Our Government has emphasized collaboration over control and facilitation over regulation true to the spirit of a modern democracy, he remarked.
The Prime Minister further stated that these reforms were crafted with empathy, acknowledging the realities faced by small businesses, young professionals, farmers, workers, and the middle class. They were shaped through consultation, guided by data, and grounded in India’s constitutional values.
"These reforms aim to create a prosperous and self-reliant India. Building a Viksit Bharat is the guiding principle of our developmental journey. We will relentlessly pursue the reform agenda in the upcoming years," he proclaimed.
The Prime Minister encouraged everyone, both domestically and internationally, to strengthen their connection with the India growth narrative.
"Continue to trust India and invest in our people!" he concluded.
