New Delhi, Jan 26 (NationPress) India stands out as one of the 13 prominent industrial clusters globally, joining forces with nations like Australia, Brazil, the Netherlands, the UK, and Saudi Arabia in the World Economic Forum’s Transitioning Industrial Clusters initiative to combat climate change and protect our planet, as highlighted in a recent statement from the WEF.

A new white paper emphasizes the essential role that industrial clusters play in promoting the large-scale deployment of clean energy infrastructure. This document showcases leading entities that are implementing innovative collaborative and business models while leveraging digital technologies.

The report titled Accelerating the Energy Transition: Unpacking the Business and Economic Cases points out the challenges of converting the well-recognized advantages of climate action into private sector investments, as noted in the statement.

“The Global South is bearing the brunt of climate change driven by other regions,” stated Cindy H. McCain, Executive Director of the United Nations World Food Programme. “Those who can least afford the impacts, and who have the least capacity to combat it, are suffering the most.”

As the threats from climate change become increasingly apparent through extreme weather events, world leaders at the recently concluded WEF 2025 emphasized the urgency for more extensive and rapid action. This gathering built upon the achievements from the three UN COPs focused on Climate, Land, and Biodiversity in 2024, aiming to enhance the deployment of renewable energy, improve energy efficiency, address energy demand, and restore nature.

The WEF also launched its inaugural State of Nature and Climate report, which provides the latest insights on planetary health and corporate advancements in tackling climate and nature-related challenges.

Six reports were published by the Forum to accelerate the transition towards a nature-positive future. Five of these reports concentrated on sector-specific strategies for key industries—offshore wind, mining and metals, ports, and automotive—while the sixth report explored financing solutions for creating nature-positive cities.

The inaugural Giving to Amplify Earth Action (GAEA) Awards recognized five innovative initiatives that are making strides in solving the world’s most urgent climate and nature challenges. The awarded partnerships will receive customized support throughout 2025 to enhance their impact and promote systemic change, as mentioned in the statement.

Furthermore, leading companies across retail, e-commerce, mobility, and logistics have declared new commitments and a collective ambition for more sustainable and efficient urban deliveries, collaborating with the government to adopt new models that benefit consumers, couriers, businesses, and cities.
