New Delhi, May 1 (NationPress) Piyush Goyal has recently wrapped up a significant visit to Norway, marking the first time in over 25 years that a Commerce and Industry Minister from India has made such a trip. He emphasized that the relationship between the two nations is poised to enter a new phase of trust and growth.
The Commerce Minister engaged in separate discussions with Norway's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Espen Barth Eide, and the Minister of Trade and Industry, Cecilie Myrseth. The focus was on the execution of the India-EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement, aiming to enhance bilateral relations.
“Just concluded my fruitful visit to Norway, the first by a Commerce and Industry Minister from India in over 25 years,” Goyal communicated via the X social media platform.
“My interactions with the political and business leaders here instill great confidence that our relationship is set to enter a new era of trust and growth,” he further stated.
Additionally, the minister engaged with prominent Norwegian investors during a panel discussion.
“We discussed investment opportunities within India's capital markets and the potential for GIFT City to become a new hub for investors in the changing global economic scenario,” he noted.
Goyal also met with the India-Norway business community at the 'Innovation Norway' center.
“I addressed topics regarding the enhancement of the Ease of Doing Business in India, the investment climate, global talent leadership, technology expansion, and TEPA-driven opportunities for Norwegian investors,” he mentioned.
The Indian minister co-chaired the Norway-India Business Executive Roundtable with Myrseth. “Conversations revolved around broadening economic cooperation, fostering innovation-driven growth, and exploring potential collaborations to further solidify business ties between our nations,” Goyal explained.
He paid a visit to the Norwegian Parliament — Stortinget — and met with several esteemed members.
Goyal's five-day journey included stops in London, Oslo, and Brussels, focusing on strengthening India’s trade and investment relations with the UK, Norway, and the European Union.
