New Delhi, Nov 10 (NationPress) The 11th edition of the Joint Military exercise “Exercise Mitra Shakti-2025” between India and Sri Lanka has officially kicked off on November 10 at the Foreign Training Node located in Belagavi, Karnataka.
This military exercise is scheduled to run from November 10 to November 23, 2025.
The Indian contingent comprises 170 personnel, primarily from the Rajput Regiment.
Conversely, the Sri Lankan team includes 135 personnel, mainly representing the Gajaba Regiment. Additionally, 20 personnel from the Indian Air Force and 10 personnel from the Sri Lankan Air Force are taking part in this exercise.
The main objective of the exercise is to conduct joint rehearsals of Sub-Conventional Operations under Chapter VII of the United Nations Mandate.
According to the Ministry of Defence (MoD), “The exercise will focus on enhancing collaborative responses during counter-terrorist operations. Both nations will train in tactical maneuvers like raids, search-and-destroy missions, and heliborne operations.”
Moreover, the curriculum will also include Army Martial Arts Routine (AMAR), combat reflex shooting, and yoga.
Furthermore, Exercise Mitra Shakti-2025 will incorporate the use of drones and counter-unmanned aerial systems, along with helicopters.
“Drills for securing helipads and carrying out casualty evacuations during counter-terrorism operations will be practiced jointly,” the MoD mentioned.
“The collective endeavors aim to bolster interoperability among troops while prioritizing the safety of life and property, aligning with UN peace-keeping objectives,” it added.
Both sides will also share perspectives and conduct joint drills across a broad spectrum of combat skills, fostering mutual learning.
This sharing of best practices will significantly enhance defense cooperation between the Indian Army and Sri Lankan Army, thereby strengthening bilateral relations between these neighboring countries.
