Indian Forces Participate in Military Exercises in Malaysia

New Delhi, Dec 2 (NationPress) Practice drills in jungle terrain and simulated exercises focused on anti-terrorist actions are set to be the main features of the fourth installment of the India-Malaysia Joint Military Exercise Harimau Shakti, which began on Monday at the Bentong camp in the Pahang district of Malaysia.
The military exercise is slated to take place from December 2 to 15.
The Indian contingent consists of 78 personnel from a Battalion of the Mahar Regiment, while the Malaysian side is represented by 123 personnel from The Royal Malaysian Regiment.
The objective of this exercise is to bolster the joint military capabilities of both nations to effectively carry out counter-insurgency operations in jungle environments as outlined in Chapter VII of the United Nations Mandate. The focus will be on operations conducted in jungle settings.
Joint Exercise Harimau Shakti is an annual training event that alternates between India and Malaysia. The previous edition took place in November 2023 at Umroi Cantonment in Meghalaya.
This exercise will unfold in two phases. The first phase will emphasize cross-training between the two armies, which includes lectures, demonstrations, and practice of various drills in jungle terrain.
In the concluding phase, both armies will engage in a simulated exercise, where troops will perform numerous drills, including anti-MT ambush, occupation of a harbour, reconnaissance patrols, ambush tactics, and an offensive against a terrorist-held area.
Exercise Harimau Shakti aims to allow both sides to exchange best practices in tactics, techniques, and procedures for conducting joint operations. It will promote interoperability, camaraderie, and mutual understanding between the two armies.
The joint exercise will further enhance defense cooperation and strengthen bilateral relations between these two friendly nations.
On Sunday, the inaugural edition of the Joint Table Top Exercise CINBAX commenced between the Indian Army and the Cambodian Army at the Foreign Training Node in Pune. This exercise will be conducted from December 1 to 8.
The Cambodian Army contingent comprises 20 personnel, matched by an equal number of Indian Army personnel from an Infantry Brigade participating in the exercise.
