New Delhi, Sep 29 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah praised Team India for their thrilling five-wicket win against Pakistan in the final of the Men’s T20 Asia Cup 2025, labeling it as “an extraordinary triumph,” and affirming that the nation is destined to triumph across all fields.
“An extraordinary triumph. The fierce determination of our players outclassed the opposition once more. Bharat is meant to win, regardless of the domain,” Shah expressed on X, encapsulating the nation's excitement following India's exhilarating victory at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday.
This win not only marked India's ninth Asia Cup title but also highlighted their unbeaten streak in the tournament. Initially, Pakistan seemed dominant, scoring 113/1 in just 12.4 overs. Yet, the Indian spinners mounted a remarkable comeback. Kuldeep Yadav sparked a shocking collapse as Pakistan lost their last nine wickets for a mere 33 runs, ultimately being bowled out for 146 in 19.1 overs.
Kuldeep, having conceded 23 runs in his initial two overs, made a brilliant recovery to finish with figures of 4/30, including three wickets in a pivotal 17th over. He received solid support from Axar Patel and Varun Chakaravarthy, who each took two wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah claimed two more in the final stages of the match.
In pursuit of a target of 147, India experienced an early setback, collapsing to 20/3 with the losses of Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, and captain Suryakumar Yadav. However, Tilak Varma emerged as the anchor, remaining unbeaten on 69 runs from 51 balls, showcasing his composure and big-match temperament with three boundaries and four sixes. Shivam Dube added to the excitement with a flurry of sixes, pushing India past the finish line with two balls to spare.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also commended the victory, drawing parallels to military success. “#OperationSindoor on the games field. The outcome remains the same – India wins! Congratulations to our cricketers,” he shared on X.
In a bold off-field gesture, Team India reportedly declined to accept the trophy and medals from Asian Cricket Council chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who also heads the Pakistan Cricket Board. Amit Malviya, head of the BJP IT Cell, described this as a significant statement from the Indian team on X.
