Chandigarh, Jan 18 (NationPress) In celebration of the 10th Defence Forces Veterans’ Day, the Western Command of the Indian Army conducted a variety of veteran-oriented rallies and outreach activities across the regions of Kangra, Amritsar, Ambala, Chandigarh, Mohali, and Panchkula.
The events, which wrapped up on Sunday, demonstrated the command's profound respect, gratitude, and unwavering commitment towards the veteran community, acknowledging their priceless contributions and lifelong service to the nation.
To reinforce its dedication to veterans’ welfare, the Western Command has set up 41 Veterans Sahayata Kendras (VSKs) to serve as a one-stop grievance redressal system and operates 79 ECHS polyclinics to provide high-quality medical services to veterans and their families.
In the previous year, more than Rs 5 crore was allocated for enhancing these facilities, with an additional Rs 2.5 crore designated for the current year.
As part of its extensive outreach, the Western Command also hosted large-scale rallies for ex-servicemen in Jammu and Ferozepur, while continuing to offer continuous financial, medical, and psychological assistance to spinal-injured soldiers at the Paraplegic Rehabilitation Centre in Mohali.
