“The multi-party Indian delegation, headed by Supriya Sule, MP, Lok Sabha, is arriving today in Doha for a two-day visit from May 24-26, 2025. This marks the first leg of their tour across four nations: Qatar, South Africa, Ethiopia, and Egypt. During their stay in Doha, the delegation will engage with Qatari dignitaries and members of the media, academia, and other sectors. This visit follows the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Operation Sindoor, and subsequent events. The delegation comprises MPs from both Houses of Parliament, former ministers, and diplomats,” the Indian Embassy in Qatar elaborated in a press release.
“Since the Pahalgam terror attack, the leadership of India and Qatar have remained in close communication. On May 6, H.H. Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, the Amir of the State of Qatar, and Prime Minister Modi had a phone conversation discussing the developments. The Prime Minister of Qatar and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Jassim Al-Thani, also spoke with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on May 7. Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its firm condemnation of the Pahalgam terrorist attack in a statement on April 23,” the embassy added.
“We departed for Doha along with fellow parliamentarians on a four-leg visit to Qatar, Egypt, Ethiopia, and South Africa to inform them of India’s stance on Pakistan-sponsored terrorism. Throughout these extensive 12 days, we will be meeting political leaders, intellectuals, and institutions to foster a global consensus in the battle against terrorism. Jai Hind INDIA,” remarked Anurag Thakur, a member of this all-party delegation currently in Qatar.
Following this, the group will head to South Africa, which currently holds the G-20 Presidency, and then proceed to Ethiopia, home to the African Union.
The delegation will also visit Egypt, a significant country in the Arab world.
This delegation is one of seven multi-party delegations assigned by India to visit 33 global capitals, aiming to connect with the international community to spotlight Pakistan’s associations with terrorism and assert that the recent conflict was instigated by the Pahalgam terror incident rather than Operation Sindoor as claimed by Islamabad.
Operation Sindoor was initiated on May 7 as a decisive military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives.
The Indian Armed Forces targeted terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in the deaths of over 100 terrorists linked to groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Toiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen.
Post-operation, Pakistan retaliated with cross-border shelling along the Line of Control and in Jammu and Kashmir, along with attempted drone strikes in border areas, prompting India to launch a coordinated attack damaging radar systems, communication centers, and airfields across 11 airbases in Pakistan.
On May 10, an agreement for a cessation of hostilities between the two nations was announced.
