Doha, May 25 (NationPress) An all-party Indian parliamentary delegation, headed by Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar) MP Supriya Sule, convened with Qatar's Shura Council in Doha on Sunday. The delegation conveyed a robust and unified stance from India against Pakistan-sponsored cross-border terrorism, while also informing the council about the importance of Operation Sindoor.
The group consisted of BJP members Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Anurag Thakur, and V. Muraleedharan, along with Congress leaders Manish Tewari and Anand Sharma, Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu from the Telugu Desam Party, Vikramjeet Singh Sawhney from the Aam Aadmi Party, and former diplomat Syed Akbaruddin.
As part of India's extensive diplomatic mission, the delegation plans to visit South Africa, Ethiopia, and Egypt in the upcoming days.
During their discussions, the delegation provided insights to Qatar's legislative body regarding Operation Sindoor—India's precise military response following the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22—and called for support in the global battle against terrorism.
Earlier in the day, the delegation paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at the Indian Embassy in Doha.
“In honoring Bapu's enduring ideals of peace and tolerance, members of the All-Party Parliamentary Delegation, led by MP Supriya Sule, offered floral tributes at the bust of Mahatma Gandhi at the Embassy,” the Embassy shared on X.
Vipul, India's Ambassador to Qatar, mentioned to IANS, “This delegation holds great significance. Our MPs arrived here last night and have scheduled meetings today and tomorrow. Qatar is a major and strategic partner for India. The Emir of Qatar visited India in February for a state visit, during which we announced our strategic partnership.”
“It is crucial that we share our viewpoint with Qatar. Following the Pahalgam terror attack, discussions have occurred between the top leadership of both nations. On May 6, the Prime Minister spoke with the Emir of Qatar, and on May 7, our Foreign Minister had a conversation with the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister here. Thus, we maintain a strong stand against terrorism, asserting zero tolerance and rejecting any form of cross-border terrorism,” he explained.
The visiting parliamentarians are anticipated to engage with senior officials from Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, members of the National Assembly, and representatives from notable think tanks and major media outlets.
Through these high-level discussions, India aims to foster international consensus around its anti-terrorism position and enhance global support for its recent military and diplomatic initiatives under Operation Sindoor.
