Visakhapatnam, Feb 18 (NationPress) President Droupadi Murmu stated on Wednesday that the Indian Navy remains alert in protecting the nation's maritime interests while also promoting stability across the expansive maritime domain.
She emphasized that the various units of the Indian Navy stationed in the area act as reliable instruments of deterrence and defense against threats and challenges that emerge at sea.
President Murmu made these remarks after observing the remarkable fleet of warships and the demonstrations by naval personnel from India and allied navies during the International Fleet Review (IFR) in this city.
“The Indian Navy frequently serves as the First Responder during humanitarian crises and natural disasters, providing swift assistance with both compassion and expertise. Moreover, the Indian Navy plays a crucial role in fostering goodwill and establishing bonds of trust, confidence, and friendship with navies worldwide,” she noted.
The President highlighted that the spirit of camaraderie showcased through the participation of numerous friendly nations underscores the reality that we are unified rather than divided by the seas.
She expressed confidence that the international unity displayed will foster a shared purpose and heritage. “I am convinced that all the navies represented here will collaboratively ensure that the oceans thrive as gateways for growth, prosperity, and the overall well-being of the global community,” she remarked.
President Murmu observed that the IFR symbolizes unity, trust, and respect among nations for maritime traditions. Ships bearing diverse flags and sailors from various countries reflect the essence of togetherness. “This spirit of unity is well encapsulated in the theme of this review: United Through Oceans. It sends a positive message to the global community that the commitment and determination of this collective naval force can surmount all challenges,” she stated.
She reiterated that India's approach to international relations, especially in the maritime arena, is governed by the ethos of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ or ‘the world is one family’. “This philosophy embodies the wisdom that global security, growth, sustainability, and stability are achieved through partnerships. This spirit of collaboration is fundamental to a lasting global order. As such, India believes that a robust maritime order hinges on collective responsibility and cooperative action among like-minded nations,” she added.
The President also remarked on Vishakhapatnam's illustrious maritime history. The event underscores the enduring naval significance of the city. This Fleet Review also advances India’s vision of MAHASAGAR, which stands for Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions, she concluded.
Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, and his wife Anna Konidela were present at the event.
