New Delhi, Sep 4 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized that India’s postal system has transformed into the largest doorstep banking network globally, with the dedicated postman serving as a crucial agent for financial inclusion.
"Through the government's relentless efforts, our devoted postman has emerged as a beacon of financial inclusion. Thanks to India Post Office and IPPB Online, the postal system has become the world's largest doorstep banking network, ensuring dignity and empowerment," stated PMO India on X.
In response to an article by Union Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia regarding the postal system, the Prime Minister praised the article for offering a comprehensive perspective on the nation's postal infrastructure.
Scindia remarked, "Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, the India Post Office and India Post Payment Bank (IPPB) Online have transformed one of the oldest postal networks into the world’s most extensive doorstep banking system. Aligned with this vision, the India Post Payments Bank is delivering access, assurance, and aspiration to the doorsteps of 140 crore Indians."
The minister further elaborated that the Department of Posts, with its extensive network of 160,000 post offices, is crafting a success narrative. "The postman of yesteryears now offers financial access and dignity to every doorstep across the nation."
IPPB has quietly established itself as a national leader by ensuring the digitalization of all its rural accounts. By incorporating technology, fostering partnerships, and diversifying services, IPPB has turned post offices into all-encompassing financial centers, demonstrating that even the most traditional institutions can adapt in a fast-evolving world.
Founded eight years ago, IPPB has been dedicated to making sure that no Indian, regardless of location, gender, or situation, is left out of the formal economy. Beyond simply opening accounts, it has been about unlocking opportunities and empowerment.
By integrating rural India into the digital economy, it has emerged as a catalyst for national economic empowerment, Scindia concluded.
