Aizawl, Feb 28 (NationPress) The state-run Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) ranks among the top taxpayers to the Mizoram government, significantly aiding the state's welfare and development, stated Chief Minister Lalduhoma during an event on Friday.
The Chief Minister presented a TATA school bus to the Ephatha Special School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, which was acquired through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts of IOCL.
In his speech at the bus handover ceremony, CM Lalduhoma emphasized that IOCL contributes roughly Rs 170 crore every year to the Mizoram government.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, IOCL donated 21 dialysis machines to the state and provided a considerable number of beds specifically for Covid-19 patients.
The corporation is also in the process of expanding its bottling plant in Mualkhang (located in Kolasib District), a project that enjoys strong backing from the state government, the Chief Minister noted.
Furthermore, acknowledging the necessity for a better oil depot in Mizoram, two sites are currently being evaluated for a new depot, with the government optimistic about its prompt establishment, CM Lalduhoma mentioned.
The Chief Minister praised IOCL for its generous donation of a high-quality bus to Ephatha School and revealed plans for IOCL to donate two additional buses to the Spastic Society this year.
He recognized the significance of their contributions and expressed his heartfelt appreciation.
Saihmingthangi, President of the Ephatha Society, expressed her gratitude to both IOCL and the Chief Minister, highlighting that the bus will greatly benefit children from various parts of the city.
The registration fee for the bus will be covered by the Chief Minister's office, while insurance will be managed by Zothantluanga, a TATA dealer in Mizoram.
The bus handover ceremony witnessed the participation of IOCL officials, members of the Ephatha Society, school staff, students, and representatives from the Chief Minister’s office.
