Jaipur, Jan 5 (NationPress) Former Union Minister Smriti Irani stated that it was not her victories, but rather her defeats that have significantly influenced her destiny and revolutionized her life. She emphasized that struggles and failures in life are what truly define a person's identity and purpose.
Speaking at the Jaipur Exhibition and Convention Centre, Sitapura, during the second day of the Rajasthan DigiFest TiE Global Summit 2026, Smriti Irani participated in a session titled “Leadership Beyond Labels: Women, Power and Public Service.” She shared insights on women’s leadership, public engagement, resilience, and discipline, asserting that women are increasingly stepping into leadership roles in technology, policy, startups, and public service. Discussing her electoral journey openly, Smriti Irani remarked that her most significant lessons emerged from her defeats.
“My real victory lies not in winning, but in losing. Defeat wrote my destiny,” she stated. Furthermore, she conveyed that success and failure should not be perceived through a gendered perspective but as matters of equality.
Irani also addressed the genuine challenges faced by women entrepreneurs in India. She pointed out that nine crore women involved with self-help groups are portraying a robust and empowering image of a new India.
