New Delhi, Nov 19 (NationPress) In the wake of the detention of Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui, the founder of Al Falah University, due to allegations linking him to a terror financing money laundering case, BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo voiced serious concerns on Wednesday, labeling the institution as a potential terror university.
Rajeev Ranjan, the National Spokesperson for JD(U), also weighed in on the situation, expressing astonishment at the university’s alleged affiliations.
He remarked, “The ties between Al-Falah University and white-collar networks were unforeseen, but this arrest may lead to significant disclosures. There is a likelihood that even medical professionals may be implicated, which raises alarms.”
Furthermore, JD(U) spokesperson Neeraj Kumar conveyed worries regarding the political implications surrounding the incident. “The occurrence in Delhi is deeply troubling for our nation. These situations present a real challenge. Regrettably, political investigations are becoming commonplace. Political entities should refrain from using this incident for leverage,” he stated, emphasizing the need for an unbiased investigation rather than political maneuvering.
On Tuesday, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) apprehended Siddiqui, who also serves as the Chairman of the Al Falah Group, under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). This arrest followed a thorough investigation, which included searches at various locations connected to the Al Falah Group.
The ED’s inquiry was initiated upon two FIRs filed by the Delhi Police’s Crime Branch. These FIRs claim that Al Falah University, located in Faridabad, made fraudulent assertions regarding its NAAC accreditation to mislead students, parents, and other stakeholders.
Additionally, the university allegedly made false claims of recognition under Section 12(B) of the UGC Act, 1956, intending to deceive prospective students and the general public for illicit gains.
Regulatory bodies have escalated their examination of the university’s financial dealings, operations, and possible connections to terrorist networks. Investigators suspect that this arrest may unveil the scale of any terror-related activities and expose networks allegedly operating within the institution.
The Al-Falah Charitable Trust was established by a public charitable trust deed on September 8, 1995, with Jawad Ahmad Siddiqui identified as one of the initial trustees and the designated Managing Trustee.
All educational institutions, including the university and colleges, are ultimately owned and financially consolidated under this trust, which is effectively governed by Jawad Ahmad Siddiqui. The entire Al-Falah Group has experienced remarkable growth since the 1990s, evolving into a significant educational organization.
