New Delhi, May 22 (NationPress) A month after the Pahalgam terror incident rattled Jammu and Kashmir, BJP Rajya Sabha member Gulam Ali Khatana asserted on Thursday that the region has restored its normalcy and called upon individuals from all over India to visit and enjoy the famed hospitality of the Valley.

In an interview with IANS, Khatana stated: "J&K has returned to normal. The hospitality of the locals is renowned globally."

He referred to the recent event in Pahalgam as a "horrific scene" and stressed the need to prevent such incidents from happening again.

“We hope that our security will provide complete protection so that tourists can revel in the beauty and warmth of Kashmir," he continued.

Khatana, who is part of all-party delegations aimed at showcasing India’s counter-terrorism efforts globally, highlighted the importance of India’s Operation Sindoor in dismantling terror networks and revealing Pakistan’s role in supporting cross-border terrorism.

"We are advocating India’s case on a global platform and exposing how Pakistan has been fostering terrorism—whether in Punjab earlier, Kashmir for the last 25–30 years, or in Afghanistan. It is a hostile state where democracy is suppressed, and whose nuclear assets are precarious. We call upon international organizations, including the atomic regulatory body, to take notice," he informed IANS.

Khatana endorsed the government's zero-tolerance approach toward terrorism, asserting that India is united in this struggle, with Operation Sindoor serving as a strong affirmation of that determination.

Responding to Congress leader Jairam Ramesh's criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the government, claiming that the terrorists linked to the Pahalgam attack are still at large in J&K and involved in three other attacks over the last 18 months, he remarked: "These issues fall under the purview of the Home and Defence Ministries—not the opposition's domain."

Conversely, Khatana welcomed former Union Minister Anand Sharma’s endorsement of Operation Sindoor and the government’s diplomatic initiatives. The Congress leader had praised the decision to dispatch an all-party delegation abroad to articulate India’s position on terrorism. However, in light of some leaders criticizing the government regarding Operation Sindoor, the MP noted: "When people are politically marginalized, frustration levels naturally escalate."

Point of View

It is crucial to acknowledge the evolving situation in Jammu and Kashmir. While the government emphasizes a return to normalcy, the sentiments of the local populace and the recent history of violence cannot be overlooked. The commitment to counter-terrorism measures and the invitation for tourism must align with genuine efforts to ensure safety and stability in the region.
