Bengaluru, June 21 (NationPress) The Deputy Chairman of the Karnataka State Policy and Planning Commission and Congress MLA B.R. Patil asserted on Saturday that the alleged audio recording, which points to widespread corruption within the Housing Department, is genuine and that the claims made within it are accurate.

While addressing journalists in Bengaluru, MLA Patil stated in response to inquiries, “The audio clip concerning corruption in the Housing Department is indeed authentic. That is my voice. I have merely conveyed the truth. Yes, it’s my audio. Allotments are not being executed as per my recommendations. Corruption has been present under all administrations. Nevertheless, our government was elected with a commitment to providing transparent and citizen-focused governance.”

He called for the state government to initiate an investigation based on his remarks.

The MLA mentioned that although he has not yet met with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, he is willing to clarify matters should he receive a call from him.

In response to these developments, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar expressed his disapproval of Patil’s allegations regarding corruption in the Housing Department.

“I do not concur with his statements. The Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is aware of his comments, and I plan to discuss this matter with him. Everything is conducted transparently, and decisions regarding house allocations are made locally. I am unsure of the context in which MLA Patil made these assertions,” he remarked.

The controversy began when an audio clip emerged on Friday, featuring MLA Patil, where he indicated that revealing the information he possesses could undermine the very foundation of the Congress-led government.

The Karnataka BJP faction has called for a judicial inquiry into these allegations and has urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to request the resignation of Housing Minister Zameer Ahmad Khan.

In the recorded conversation, MLA Patil, who represents the Aland Assembly constituency in Kalaburagi district, is heard speaking with Minister Zameer Ahmad Khan’s personal secretary, Sarfaraz Khan. Patil expresses his indignation and frustration at the alleged graft in the housing allocations within his constituency.

“Houses are being allocated only to individuals who have paid bribes. It pains me to lodge this complaint against my own government. A total of 950 houses have been distributed across various villages after extorting money from beneficiaries. My recommendation letters are disregarded, while preference is given to the list provided by the Gram Panchayat President,” Patil is quoted as saying.

Sarfaraz Khan is heard trying to calm him down, encouraging Patil to submit his own list of beneficiaries and assuring him that those names would also receive housing allocations.
