New Delhi, June 21 (NationPress) Delhi Home Minister Ashish Sood engaged with the firefighters chosen for the World Police and Fire Games 2025 and motivated them to excel, thereby earning accolades for the nation, as stated by an official on Saturday.
During a ceremonial gathering held at the Delhi Secretariat to honor the Indian team, Sood remarked: “This competition has been held consistently for the last 42 years, but this marks the first occasion that an organized team from the Indian fire services is competing on this global stage.”
“The participation of women firefighters from various states is a significant milestone for the country,” he added.
The Delhi Home Minister expressed optimism that during the competition—set to take place from June 27 to July 7 in Birmingham, Alabama, USA—the team will demonstrate their strength and expertise in events such as Stair Run, Firefighter Challenge, Ultimate Firefighter, and Muster Drill.
Sood extended his best wishes to all athletes, urging them to compete with sportsmanship and full dedication, aiming to win numerous medals and proudly raise the Indian tricolor on the international platform.
He also promised that a grand recognition ceremony would be hosted upon their return to India.
At the end of the event, the entire team expressed their commitment to the nation and conveyed their gratitude to Chief Minister Rekha Gupta for this historic opportunity.
Previously on Friday, CM Gupta introduced the official logo and mascot for the New Delhi 2025 World Para Athletics Championships. This event also marked the formal launch of the “100 Days to Go” countdown for this prestigious tournament.
The unveiling ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Minister Sood, Member of Parliament and Championship Brand Ambassador Kangana Ranaut, President of the Paralympic Committee of India Devendra Jhajharia, Chief Patron of the Paralympic Committee Vanathi Srinivasan, and Secretary of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports Hari Ranjan Rao.
During the event, the Chief Minister conveyed her best wishes to all para-athletes, their coaches, and support staff ahead of the upcoming Championship.
CM Gupta emphasized that this is a significant moment for Delhi, as the national capital is hosting the World Para Athletics Championships for the very first time.
She stated that over 2,500 athletes from more than 100 countries are anticipated to participate in this event.
