New Delhi, Feb 20 (NationPress) Delhi's Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who took the oath of office on Thursday and conducted her inaugural Cabinet meeting in the evening, has designated portfolios to her cabinet ministers.
As Delhi's fourth female Chief Minister, Gupta has retained key departments including Finance, Planning, General Administration, Services, Revenue, Women and Child Development, Land and Building, Information and Public Relations, Vigilance, among others, which have not been assigned to any other minister.
Pravesh Verma is now responsible for the Public Works Department, Legislative Affairs, Water, Irrigation & Flood Control, and Gurdwara Elections.
Kapil Mishra has been named the new Minister of Law and Justice and will also manage Labour, Tourism, Art and Culture.
Ashish Sood has been tasked with the roles of Home, Power, Urban Development, Education and Higher Education and Training, along with Technical Education departments.
Manjinder Singh Sirsa is now in charge of Food and Supplies, as well as Forest and Environment.
Pankaj Kumar Singh will oversee Health and Family Welfare, in addition to Transport.
Ravinder Singh Indraj will serve as the Minister of Social Welfare, along with SC and ST Welfare, Cooperative, and Elections.
The inaugural Cabinet meeting of the new Delhi government approved a 100-day plan, decided to clean the Yamuna and enhance the riverfront, agreed to present pending CAG reports in the Assembly, and sanctioned the introduction of the Central-government funded Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY), which provides health coverage to all families.
Gupta cautioned that her predecessor, Arvind Kejriwal, will face scrutiny for every penny misappropriated during his administration as the Cabinet moves forward to unveil corruption in the former AAP government.
She also announced that she will not occupy the current Chief Minister’s residence.
A plan to launch the Mahila Samman scheme, which offers Rs 2,500 per month to women, was also approved.
