New Delhi, Nov 3 (NationPress) India is making significant strides towards becoming a developed nation by taking the lead in the innovation of Artificial Intelligence technologies and improving its digital public infrastructure, according to experts who spoke on Monday.

During a conversation with IANS at the Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave (ESTIC) 2025 held at Bharat Mandapam, specialists outlined India's advancements across various domains. Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted India's achievements in sectors ranging from health to space during his address.

“India is excelling in multiple sectors, including health and space. Previously, we were merely followers; now we are pioneers—a remarkable shift. This is just the outset, and our progress is rapid,” stated Bhushan Pathwardhan, a professor at Pune Savitribai Phule University.

Another participant, Nidhi, emphasized the swift advancements in AI and digital models in India.

“I am confident that there will be a time when India will be the leading nation in digital AI, especially with the new RDI scheme of ₹1 lakh crore, which is set to enhance science and innovation,” she remarked.

“An increase in investment for R&D will spur a wave of innovation, as funding is critical to the process. Without financial backing, innovations become challenging to achieve,” Nidhi added.

Dr. Rahul Singh, CEO of the Medical Incubation Centre at Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Noida, praised the RDI scheme and noted its timely introduction for the nation.

“This fund and platform are timely for India as we aim for 2047,” he said, also referencing the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF).

“Such a substantial fund has been established to elevate researchers. The government has created an ecosystem to facilitate all stages from research to innovation and product development. I believe India is prepared to evolve into ‘India 2047’ rapidly,” Singh told IANS.

Dr. Meena Krishnayya stated that India is no longer just a consumer of technology but has also emerged as a front-runner in technological transformation. “Going digital exemplifies this shift,” she highlighted.

“Our technological advancements are significant. Women are also making strides, particularly in science,” she mentioned, referring to Prime Minister Modi’s statements on the rise of women in the STEM sector.

“In agriculture, the progress in drone technology and fertilization methods is notable. Our agricultural advancements will enable us to provide superior nutrition globally,” she stated.

Mangi Lal Jat, DG at ICAR, informed IANS that the Prime Minister underscored the importance of addressing malnutrition while enhancing soil health.

“The Prime Minister’s message highlights the urgency of tackling malnutrition and nutrition as a core concern. We must prioritize bio-fortified crops and improve soil health using biological resources and biofertilizers. Digital innovation is essential for achieving this,” he stated.

“The key takeaway is to cultivate more bio-fortified crops and varieties while exploring our genetic diversity to bolster nutrition security,” he added.

Referencing investments from the US and China in science, Dr. Monika Garg expressed, “With appropriate incentives, instruments, and facilities, it won’t be long before India transitions into a developed nation.”
