New Delhi, April 25 (NationPress) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta conducted an inspection of the Delhi Fire Service control room on Friday to oversee its digitisation and review plans for the introduction of 100 compact fire tenders, as stated by Home and Urban Development Minister Ashish Sood.

The Minister, who was present with the CM at the DFS Headquarters located on Barakhamba Road in central Delhi, noted that this marks the first time in Delhi's budget history that a specific allocation has been made for the acquisition of compact fire tenders.

“We aim to deploy 100 small vehicles that will enhance services at the current 86 fire stations, which have not seen an increase in capacity for many years,” he remarked.

Sood criticized the previous Congress and AAP administrations, stating that it is surprising that the educated leaders, often featured in international media, neglected to focus on upgrading the DFS facilities.

In outlining the Delhi Budget 2025-26, CM Gupta allocated Rs 110 crore for the deployment of compact fire tenders throughout the city.

These small fire tenders are designed to operate as quick response vehicles, strategically stationed to rapidly reach fire incidents in narrow lanes and unplanned areas.

“Given the increase in Delhi’s population, the current 86 fire stations are inadequate. As acquiring land and constructing new fire stations may take time, our government is implementing the use of compact fire tenders to address the city's needs until new facilities are established,” Sood added.

He emphasized that the Delhi government is dedicated to protecting lives and property, initiating digitisation and accelerating the modernisation of the DFS.

“During today’s visit, we also observed a demonstration of a fire tender equipped with a lift that extends up to 70 metres,” he noted.

The Delhi government is also planning to incorporate aerial ladder platform fire vehicles with a range of 90 metres, he confirmed.
