Jammu & Kashmir: Anganwadi Workers Receive Training for ‘Poshan Bhi, Padhai Bhi’ Initiative in Poonch

Poonch, Dec 26 (NationPress) A training camp hosted by the Ministry of Women and Child Education in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, witnessed numerous Anganwadi workers receiving training for the effective execution of the ‘Poshan Bhi, Padhai Bhi’ initiative in their respective towns and villages.

Several volunteers, Anganwadi workers (AWW), and helpers (AWH) were trained by trainers from Delhi on how to advance the Centre’s programs focusing on early childhood care and education in remote areas.

A few participants shared insights with IANS, detailing how this innovative initiative will benefit even the most isolated children in the nation.

Khan Shamim Bano, from a secluded area in J&K, remarked to IANS, “The Prime Minister has introduced numerous schemes such as ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’. Through the Nav Chetna and Adharshila initiatives, there is a strong emphasis on providing quality education to children in distant areas while ensuring their nutritional development.”

Tajim Krishi, from Mandi (Poonch), noted that multiple trainers from Delhi provided local educators with training under the Poshan project from December 7 to 26.

“This is a highly innovative and commendable initiative from the Central government aimed at educating children. This model encourages teaching while incorporating sports activities,” she added.

Numerous Anganwadi workers, having completed a 15-day training program, will return to their towns and villages with the goal of implementing this initiative in remote locations.

The ‘Poshan Bhi, Padhai Bhi’ initiative was launched by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, emphasizing the integration of education with nutrition for comprehensive child development, aiming to close the gap in remote and rural areas. CDPO officials are responsible for overseeing and monitoring training sessions to ensure smooth execution and adherence to program objectives.

Expert guidance is offered by trainers and nutrition specialists under the program. Anganwadi workers are educated to implement educational activities alongside nutritional support, promoting the cognitive, physical, and emotional development of children.

This program seeks to enhance the role of Anganwadi workers as both educators and caregivers, empowering them to deliver effective early childhood education.
