Patna, April 15 (NationPress) In a major breakthrough, the Khagaria Police have taken into custody three suspects linked to the brutal murder of Kaushal Singh, the nephew of JDU MLA Panna Lal Patel, on Tuesday.

The murder, which occurred on April 10, has drawn significant attention due to the victim's political ties.

Superintendent of Police Rakesh Kumar announced the arrests of Rajkumari Devi, her son Ashish Kumar, and Ritesh Kumar on Tuesday.

This trio had been on the run since the incident took place. “We have apprehended three suspects and filed a First Information Report (FIR) for murder and criminal conspiracy under the Bhartiya Nyay Sahita (BNS) against eight individuals,” SP Kumar told the media.

“A manhunt is currently in progress to capture the remaining suspects,” he added.

According to police sources, Kaushal Singh was riding his bike when he was allegedly ambushed and struck by three bikers in a locality under the jurisdiction of Choutham police station.

After the victim fell, he was reportedly shot at close range, and he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

“Given the case's high-profile nature, we established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to pursue the perpetrators. Acting on a lead, the suspects were located in Jamui district and apprehended,” SP Kumar stated.

While initial investigations suggest a potential property dispute, SP Kumar mentioned that the precise motive remains under scrutiny.

The police are not dismissing the possibility of a political motive, considering the victim's familial background.

“We are exploring all possibilities, including whether the motive was personal, political, or associated with any local conflicts,” the SP remarked.

Panna Lal Patel, a notable figure in Khagaria district politics, was elected from the Beldaur constituency in the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections.

His nephew, Kaushal Singh, was seen as a rising youth leader in the area.
