Patna, Oct 14 (NationPress) In a significant political turn ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, Janata Dal (United) MP from Bhagalpur, Ajay Kumar Mandal, has penned a letter to Chief Minister and party president Nitish Kumar, indicating his intention to resign from the Lok Sabha.

In his correspondence, Mandal expressed dissatisfaction regarding the party's internal operations and the ticket allocation process, claiming that the voices of local leaders and district presidents were being overlooked.

"With your guidance and blessings, I have dedicated the last 20–25 years to serving the constituents of Bhagalpur as both an MLA and MP. Throughout this extensive political journey, I have endeavored to fortify the Janata Dal (U) as my family," Mandal stated.

He pointed out that in recent months, decisions in the organization have been made without consulting local representatives, which he believes is detrimental to the party's future.

"As the local MP, I am being excluded from the ticket distribution discussions for the Assembly elections. Individuals who have not contributed to the organization are being favored for tickets, while the input of the district president and local leadership is entirely disregarded," the MP remarked.

Reiterating his loyalty to the party, Mandal reminded Nitish Kumar that during the 2019 bypolls, his was the only seat in Bihar that JD(U) secured under his leadership, showcasing the public's confidence in him and his commitment to the organization.

The Bhagalpur MP voiced his frustration over being "denied access" to meet the Chief Minister, stating, "I am not permitted to meet you, nor is my opinion valued. In this scenario, I find it challenging to justify my continued role as an MP."

Mandal stressed that his letter is not a rebellious act, but a plea aimed at preserving the party's future. "My intent is not to display dissatisfaction but to protect the party and your leadership from potential harm. If outsiders or inactive members keep receiving priority, the party's foundation will erode, directly impacting your leadership," he articulated.

In concluding his letter, Mandal urged Nitish Kumar to accept his resignation as a matter of dignity and loyalty to party principles. "Thus, with genuine allegiance to the organization, I respectfully request your approval to resign from my position as an MP," he wrote.

Sources within the party indicated that Mandal's action reflects increasing discontent among segments of the JD(U) leadership concerning the centralized ticket distribution approach and diminished consultation with grassroots leaders.
