Patna, March 30 (NationPress) Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition, claimed on Monday that Bihar's Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar, stepped down from his role as a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) due to pressure from the BJP.
In response to this development, Tejashwi remarked that while it is normal for a leader elected to another legislative body to resign, the context in Nitish Kumar’s situation seems unusual.
“This goes beyond a mere procedural issue. This resignation stems from external pressure, contrary to Nitish Kumar’s personal inclinations. It is evident that BJP leaders have misled both Nitish Kumar and the state’s populace,” he stated.
Tejashwi further asserted that his party had previously cautioned during the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections that should the NDA regain power, the BJP would ultimately marginalize Nitish Kumar.
“This has now been confirmed. The BJP will not permit him to remain in the Chief Minister position,” he added.
Tejashwi accused the ruling coalition of deceiving voters with unfulfilled promises made during the elections.
He alleged that women were assured Rs 2 lakh for livelihood support, yet only Rs 10,000 was disbursed during the election cycle.
Moreover, he criticized the government’s assertion of offering 125 units of free electricity, emphasizing that Bihar still has one of the highest electricity tariffs nationwide, which is set to rise.
“This government is misleading the citizens of Bihar,” he remarked.
The RJD leader also highlighted concerns about inflation, pointing out the increasing costs of essential goods like LPG, petrol, and diesel.
“Price controls are only in effect until elections in states like West Bengal, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu. Following that, fuel prices will surge,” he claimed.
Tejashwi Yadav sharply condemned the law and order condition in the state.
“Daily incidents of firing, murder, and crime are rampant. Justice is elusive for the people, while the BJP solely concentrates on fortifying its power,” he stated.
He also indirectly criticized Rural Works Minister, Ashok Choudhary, accusing certain leaders of engaging in “drama politics” when in front of cameras, instead of tackling genuine issues.
Ashok Choudhary was recently observed interacting with college students at AN College and was seen emotional following Nitish Kumar's resignation.
Addressing the recent hailstorms that caused extensive crop damage, Tejashwi questioned the government's response. “Have the farmers been compensated? The government is neglecting discussions on education, health, jobs, irrigation, or justice. They are merely staging drama,” he remarked.
Tejashwi expressed worries about political instability in Bihar.
“Since 2012, Bihar has seen no stable government. How can people’s issues be resolved without stability?” he queried.
Commenting on the elections in Kerala, Tejashwi Yadav mentioned that his party is allied with the LDF and that the RJD is contesting three seats under this alliance.
“I have a three-day agenda in Kerala. Afterward, I will be in Jharkhand to strengthen the party's organization in other regions. Kerala boasts the highest literacy rate in India, and we are part of the government, and I truly hope we can regain power in Kerala,” he expressed.
Regarding the West Bengal Assembly election, Tejashwi Yadav asserted, “The BJP is set to face a significant defeat in both West Bengal and Kerala.”
