Ranchi, Nov 5 (NationPress) The 556th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji was celebrated with immense devotion and enthusiasm throughout Jharkhand on Wednesday, with the state capital witnessing spectacular festivities.
A special Diwan of the Guru Granth Sahib was organized at the Guru Nanak Higher Secondary School campus in PP Compound, Ranchi, where a significant number of devotees gathered to pay their respects.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar also offered prayers and participated in the celebrations.
The Governor attended the kirtan, listened to Gurbani, and enjoyed the langar.
He remarked that Guru Nanak Dev Ji imparted the timeless message of truth, compassion, service, equality, and harmony to humanity. “His teachings motivate humanity and enhance the spirit of brotherhood,” he stated.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren, accompanied by his wife and MLA Kalpana Soren, also participated in the Diwan.
Extending greetings to the Sikh community and the people of the state on Prakash Purab and Kartik Purnima, Soren highlighted that Guru Nanak Dev's teachings foster social unity and human values.
“Guru Nanak Dev Ji serves as an inspiration not only for the Sikh community but for all of society. By embracing his principles, we can create a harmonious and robust community,” he added.
Numerous dignitaries attended the event, including Jyoti Singh Matharu, Vice President of the State Minority Commission; Ranjit Singh Happy, President of Guru Gobind Singh Public School; and Gagandeep Singh Sethi, Secretary of Gurdwara Main Road, Ranchi.
The atmosphere was filled with Nagar Kirtan, Shabad Kirtan, and the continuous recitation of Gurbani.
Organizers stated that langar was provided to devotees throughout the day. The entire complex was adorned with lights and flowers, and extensive security arrangements were implemented for the Prakash Utsav.
Festivities were also conducted throughout the state, with Diwans and Nagar Kirtans organized in Hazaribagh, Dhanbad, Jamshedpur, Giridih, and other districts to commemorate the occasion.
