Dhanbad, Dec 9 (NationPress) The Chairman of Adani Group, Gautam Adani, expressed on Tuesday that Jharkhand, especially Dhanbad, is rich in potential and is set for remarkable growth in the upcoming years.
Speaking to journalists during the Centenary Foundation Day celebrations at IIT-ISM Dhanbad, he highlighted the vast opportunities available in Jharkhand and Dhanbad, predicting swift advancements for the state.
When queried about the group's investment intentions for Dhanbad, the billionaire confidently stated, "investments will arrive soon."
He remarked, "Some may label mining as part of the old economy, but without it, the new economy cannot thrive."
Earlier in the day, Gautam Adani announced that the group plans to invest over $75 billion in energy transition initiatives over the next five years.
"The Adani Group is channeling over $75 billion into the energy transition sector over the next five years," he mentioned.
The billionaire further emphasized that the Adani Group is focused on becoming the world's fastest-growing renewable energy enterprise.
According to him, the global shift towards green energy is becoming the largest industry of this generation, expected to be valued in the trillions of dollars in the future.
"This transition will bolster electricity-driven manufacturing, green steel, green fertilizers, the hydrogen ecosystem, and essential infrastructure to support AI and digital economies," Gautam Adani noted.
The Adani Group chairman reiterated the commitment of more than $75 billion towards the energy transition efforts in the next five years.
Additionally, Gautam Adani criticized the narrative from the recent COP-30 conference in Brazil, where India's sustainability ranking was downgraded, citing concerns about the absence of a timeline for phasing out coal and ongoing coal block auctions.
Meanwhile, Prof. Dheeraj Kumar, Deputy Director of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, mentioned that the Adani Group chairman has announced 50 annual paid internships for third-year students and the establishment of an Adani 3S Mining Excellence Centre at the institute.
He also expressed gratitude towards Gautam Adani for motivating students with his message: "Dream boldly, strive continuously, embrace innovation and contribute to building a self-reliant India."
