Patna, March 26 (NationPress) In a disturbing turn of events, unidentified individuals reportedly assaulted journalist Krishnandan within the premises of Magadh Mahila College on Wednesday.
The assault occurred while the journalist was on-site gathering information regarding the Patna University Students’ Union (PUSU) Election.
The Gandhi Maidan SHO confirmed the incident, indicating that the victim submitted a report against unknown assailants.
"An FIR has been lodged, and we are committed to identifying and apprehending the anti-social elements involved," stated the SHO.
Krishnandan was conducting interviews with students who voiced their concerns regarding safety on campus.
According to the journalist, students expressed feelings of insecurity due to the frequent presence of politically connected youth organizations during the ongoing PUSU election campaign.
"While I was interviewing students, I was attacked by a group of youths affiliated with a specific political organization," Krishnandan recounted.
The journalist suffered injuries to his hand and was subsequently hospitalized for medical attention.
The PUSU elections are set for March 29, with various student organizations linked to prominent political parties actively campaigning on campus. This influx of political groups has escalated tensions within the college.
"The police have assured us that they are actively working to identify those responsible for this incident," Krishnandan remarked.
"We will soon disclose the identities of those involved. Strict measures will be taken against them," added the Gandhi Maidan SHO.
Previously, a shooting occurred outside Patna Women’s College on Tuesday, resulting in injuries to one individual.
Earlier, on March 5, Patna University experienced chaos following a bomb explosion within the campus.
The incident transpired outside the library of the Economics Department near Darbhanga House inside the Patna University campus.
