New Delhi, April 12 (NationPress) The Government on Saturday released a notification regarding the transfer of Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari to the Kerala High Court.

“In exercise of the powers vested by clause (1) of Article 222 of the Constitution of India, the President, after consulting the Chief Justice of India, is pleased to transfer Shri Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari, currently serving as a Judge at the Madhya Pradesh High Court, to the Kerala High Court and to instruct him to take charge of his duties at the Kerala High Court,” stated a notification from the Union Ministry of Law and Justice.

The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended this transfer for Justice Dharmadhikari, who has been serving as a judge at the Madhya Pradesh High Court.

According to a statement posted on the apex court's website on Monday, “The Supreme Court Collegium during its meetings on 20th March 2025, 24th March 2025, and 03rd April 2025 has suggested the transfer of Mr. Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari, Judge of the High Court of Madhya Pradesh, to the High Court of Kerala.”

As outlined in the existing Memorandum of Procedure (MoP), the Chief Justice of India initiates the transfer proposal of high court judges in consultation with four senior-most puisne judges of the Supreme Court, collectively referred to as the Collegium. Furthermore, the MoP specifies that the CJI is expected to consider the opinions of the Chief Justice of the High Court from which the judge is being transferred, as well as the Chief Justice of the High Court to which the transfer is being made, in addition to the views of other Supreme Court judges who may provide insights.

Justice Dharmadhikari, born on July 9, 1966, in Raipur, was appointed as an additional judge of the Madhya Pradesh High Court in April 2016 and took his oath as a permanent judge on March 17, 2018. Prior to his elevation to the bench, he practiced in civil, criminal, and constitutional law as an advocate for 24 years in the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
