Bengaluru, Dec 30 (NationPress) The 26-year-old television actress Nandini C.M., known for her roles in various Kannada and Tamil serials, has died by suicide. In her final note, she revealed that the immense pressure from her family to obtain a government job led her to this heartbreaking conclusion.
DCP (South West) Anita Haddannavar stated on Tuesday, "Kannada TV actor Nandini took her life on December 29 (Monday) at 3:45 am. Her body was discovered hanging from a window frame in Room No. 202 of Insta Living PG in Kengeri, Bengaluru. Her mother, G.R. Basavarajeshwari, has lodged a complaint at the Kengeri Police Station for further investigation, confirming that there are no suspicions regarding her daughter's death."
Initial inquiries indicate that "Nandini's father, a government school teacher, passed away three years ago. Following his death, family members allegedly pressured her to pursue his position, despite Nandini's lack of interest in teaching."
The complaint details that Nandini expressed in her diary her desire to pursue acting instead of taking a government job, and her feeling of being unheard by her family contributed to her distress.
Additionally, she faced some health challenges, and police reported that Nandini left a death note prior to her passing. A case of unnatural death has been registered at the Kengeri police station.
According to police, Nandini, originally from Kottur in Ballari district, had been residing in Bengaluru for a significant period. She gained fame through supporting roles in popular Kannada serials like 'Jeeva Hoovagide', 'Sangharsha', 'Madhumagalu', and 'Neenade Naa'. She also acted in Tamil serials, including a lead role in 'Gauri', where she portrayed dual characters as Kanaka and Durga.
The exact circumstances surrounding Nandini's suicide are still being investigated. After the post-mortem, her body was returned to her family.
As per her mother's complaint, Nandini completed her PUC in Ballari in 2018 and later enrolled in a B.E. program at R.R. Institute in Hesaraghatta, Bengaluru. However, her passion for acting led her to skip college regularly, opting instead for acting training in Rajarajeshwari Nagar. From 2019, she participated in various Kannada television serials and resided in a PG accommodation in Rajarajeshwari Nagar.
In August 2025, she transferred to Insta Living PG in Mylasandra, Kengeri.
Nandini's father, Mahabaleshwar, was a teacher at a government lower primary school and passed away from illness in 2021. In 2023, Nandini was presented with a job offer at the taluk office on compassionate grounds, which she declined, insisting on her commitment to acting and her desire for independence. Further investigation is ongoing.
