Bengaluru, April 5 (NationPress) In response to the BJP's demonstration demanding the inclusion of two Congress MLAs’ names in the FIR related to the suicide of a BJP worker, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah remarked on Saturday that the BJP was leveraging the tragedy for political gain.

Addressing the media at Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru, CM Siddaramaiah emphasized, “An FIR has been filed, and the investigation is ongoing. The inquiry into the BJP worker’s death is currently in progress. I will refrain from elaborating further on the case. Once the investigation concludes, appropriate actions will be taken against those found culpable.”

Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar referred to the suicide and the BJP’s protest as “a significant political conspiracy.”

Home Minister G. Parameshwara stated, “The law applies equally to all, including Congress MLAs A.S. Ponnanna and Manthar Gowda. The police will act in accordance with legal protocols. They are in the process of collecting information. This incident took place in February.”

“All relevant details are being considered, and the department has initiated a comprehensive investigation. In this context, we will assess the facts and proceed with necessary actions.

“The deceased left behind a lengthy WhatsApp note, which requires careful analysis. Appropriate measures will follow based on the investigation's findings. The decision regarding the potential transfer of the case to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) will be made later; currently, it is not deemed necessary,” he added.

Minister for Large and Medium Industries, M.B. Patil, commented on the situation in Vijayapura on Saturday, saying, “The BJP has responded similarly in two or three previous cases. They unjustly targeted Minister K.J. George in the Deputy SP suicide case, who was later exonerated. This is their historical pattern.”

Minister for Power K.J. George, addressing the media in Chikkamagaluru, questioned, “What significant protest does the BJP intend to stage now? In the Dy SP Ganapathy suicide case, they levied accusations against me, but the CID, the CBI, and the Supreme Court all dismissed those claims.”

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of the BJP worker and extend our support to his family. However, the BJP is politicizing this matter just like they did in the Dy SP Ganapathy suicide case, the MUDA issue, and the suicide of IAS officer D.K. Ravi,” he stated.

“The filing of an FIR and the naming of accused individuals is at the police's discretion,” Minister George added.

Vinay Somaiah, a resident of Madikeri district, reportedly took his own life at his office in Bengaluru on Friday. In a note he left, he accused Congress leaders and specifically named MLAs A.S. Ponnanna, Manthar Gowda, and Congress leader Thennira Maheena as responsible for his decision.

However, the Hennur police registered an FIR that only named Thennira Maheena.
