Mysuru (Karnataka), May 12 (NationPress) Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed on Monday that the Central Government should have convened an all-party discussion before declaring the ceasefire.
During a media interaction at the H.D. Kote helipad, CM Siddaramaiah remarked, "In my view, they ought to have organized an all-party meeting prior to announcing the ceasefire. Additionally, a special Parliament session is warranted. This issue is of great seriousness."
"The ceasefire has been established and both nations have consented. A meeting at the level of Director General of Military Operations (DGMOs) is underway. We must observe the developments there. The accolades should be attributed to our military and security forces. No single political party should claim sole credit. It must be given to the Defence forces and the Army," CM Siddaramaiah emphasized.
When queried about the status of Pakistani nationals in the state, he stated, "In Mysuru, there are three minor children who are Pakistani nationals, while the others have been returned across the state. These three children are under six years old. The mother is an Indian citizen, and the father is from Pakistan. They had approached the border, but no one came to retrieve them, hence they returned."
"It has been 54 years since the 1971 war. I won’t delve much into that. The ceasefire is in effect, and we shall see what the outcome will be," he mentioned in response to inquiries regarding discussions about the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi taking stringent actions that led to the declaration of war with Pakistan in 1971.
"I welcome the ceasefire decision and look forward to the results from the DGMOs' meeting between both nations," he added.
When asked about the celebrations marking two years of the Congress-led government in Karnataka, CM Siddaramaiah indicated, "We have decided to proceed with the event because, in the last Cabinet meeting, the ceasefire decision was not addressed, and we considered postponing the event. We previously communicated this to AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi that the event would likely be postponed."
AICC National General Secretaries Randeep Singh Surjewala and K.C. Venugopal had already informed LoP Rahul Gandhi about this, and now they are stating they will consult him and confirm the date's availability by evening. We are eager to celebrate and hold the event.
The Congress was scheduled to host the event on May 20 in Vijayanagara.
When evaluating his government’s performance, the CM asserted, "This government has fulfilled its commitments."
Addressing inquiries about a Cabinet reshuffle, CM Siddaramaiah stated, "When I decide to reshuffle the Cabinet, I will inform the media."
He also conveyed wishes for Buddha Purnima, stating, "The government observes Buddha Purnima today, and I extend my heartfelt wishes to the people of the state. I wish for peace to prevail across all states and the nation."
