Belagavi (Karnataka), Dec 12 (NationPress) The Karnataka BJP anticipates significant developments within the ruling Congress party starting from December 20.

During a press conference in Belagavi on Friday, the Leader of Opposition in the Assembly, R. Ashoka, remarked, "A new drama will emerge post December 20. Rapid changes can be expected within the ruling party."

Ashoka emphasized that Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and state President Shivakumar must address the leadership controversy and the power-sharing agreement, stating, "They remain silent on this matter."

He noted that only CM Siddaramaiah's son Yathindra consistently claims that his father will serve as CM for a complete five years, while other leaders refrain from making such statements. "It appears that the power-sharing agreement is being enacted. The meetings over dinner and lunch with Congress leaders validate this," Ashoka explained.

Ashoka went on to assert that the Congress is split into two groups: one of veteran Congress leaders and another of newcomers to the party.

"The situation has deteriorated following the dinner gatherings among ruling party leaders, leaving Congress MLAs in a dire state," he said.

Ashoka further remarked that CM Siddaramaiah is reluctant to relinquish his position, while Deputy CM Shivakumar refuses to remain passive. "During sessions, CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM Shivakumar cannot even look at one another," Ashoka noted, adding that the proceedings have become tedious.

The BJP and JD(S) are bringing to light issues affecting North Karnataka and sugarcane farmers, but the government is unresponsive, Ashoka pointed out.

In the meantime, BJP State President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra mentioned, "Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's faction is holding dinner meetings to protect his position, while Deputy Chief Minister and State Congress President D.K. Shivakumar's faction is organizing meetings to usurp the CM's role from him."

Vijayendra added that amid this turmoil, the administration has crumbled, forcing farmers to protest. "We had urged that the Congress leadership address the leadership dilemma before the winter session," he stated.

Vijayendra criticized the Congress party's dinner-centric politics, calling it an affront to the populace and the state. "The breakfast, lunch, and dinner meetings have wreaked havoc on the state," he asserted, noting that the Congress leadership in Karnataka has been ensnared in these gatherings for the past three to four months.

"The Congress has lost sight of governance amidst the dinner and lunch meetings. The agitation by sugarcane farmers has escalated to a hostile level," Vijayendra concluded.
