Bengaluru, Jan 27 (NationPress) Overwhelmed by alleged mistreatment from his wife, a man tragically took his life by hanging on Monday in Hubballi, Karnataka. This heartbreaking event occurred on the same day that his divorce petition was due for a hearing in court.
The man has been named Peter. He reportedly left behind a suicide note claiming that he was driven to this drastic action due to “torture by his wife”.
In his note, Peter, a resident of Chamundeshwarinagar, expressed: “Daddy, I am sorry. Pinky (my wife) is killing me. She wants my death.”
Family members confirmed that, honoring Peter’s wishes, they had inscribed on his coffin that he succumbed to the pressure of his wife’s harassment.
Reports suggest that Peter's wife, who was employed as a teacher at a private institution, was involved with another man.
When confronted by Peter and his family, she allegedly replied that “it was her life and her choice.”
Following numerous arguments and conflicts, she left their home and initiated divorce proceedings.
Peter's family further accused his wife of demanding Rs 20 lakh as a settlement and subjecting him to mental torment over financial matters.
In a related distressing incident, a husband set himself ablaze outside his wife's residence in the Nagarbhavi area of Bengaluru last Thursday after failing to persuade her to retract her divorce petition.
The deceased has been identified as 39-year-old Manjunath, from Kunigal town, who was a cab driver.
According to authorities, Manjunath married in 2013 and lived with his wife in a flat in Bengaluru, where they had a nine-year-old son.
In a prior case, Bengaluru techie Atul Subhash took his own life due to alleged mistreatment and a demand for Rs 3 crore from his wife, Nikita Singhania, in connection with their divorce settlement.
As public outrage grew over Atul Subhash's shocking suicide, another incident involving a police officer, allegedly due to similar mistreatment from his wife and her family, was reported from Bengaluru on December 14, 2024.
