Bengaluru, July 26 (NationPress) Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated on Saturday that Karnataka has achieved the top rank in the nation for per capita income owing to the implementation of five key guarantee schemes by his administration.
He also remarked that leaders from the BJP lack an understanding of economics.
This assertion was made during the inauguration and foundation stone laying ceremony for various development initiatives, as well as a meeting with beneficiaries in the Arasikere Assembly constituency.
Karnataka is now positioned as the leading state in per capita income, primarily attributed to the enhanced purchasing power of its citizens. This increase in purchasing power is a direct consequence of the guarantee schemes introduced by the government. Siddaramaiah criticized BJP leaders for their failure to grasp economic principles, claiming they spread misinformation regarding the state’s financial capabilities for development. He expressed confidence that the people of Karnataka would not be deceived by such politically motivated claims.
During performance review meetings, numerous beneficiaries have come forward to express their appreciation, demonstrating that the Congress government is fulfilling its promises.
He elaborated that while Rs 1.20 lakh crore has been earmarked for development projects, Rs 56,000 crore is allocated specifically for guarantee schemes aimed at delivering development directly to the populace.
Regarding a national conference for backward communities held in Delhi, CM Siddaramaiah mentioned that Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, has shown a clear understanding of the challenges faced by these communities.
He reiterated that the Congress government has developed initiatives for the empowerment of backward classes, women, Dalits, and the economically disadvantaged across all castes.
Siddaramaiah emphasized that the Congress party is the only one dedicated to designing and executing programs that promote social justice, uplift the impoverished, and uphold constitutional values.
He challenged the BJP to review history to see that only the Congress party has consistently worked toward social justice at both state and national levels.
The Chief Minister praised local MLA Shivalingegowda for his commitment to people-centered development initiatives in the constituency and for effectively presenting the government’s pro-people policies in the Legislative Assembly. He expressed confidence that Shivalingegowda, a four-time elected representative, will secure another victory in the upcoming election.
He highlighted Shivalingegowda’s efforts in rejuvenating ten lakes and providing drinking water, with an investment of Rs 148 crore.
Shivalingegowda has a promising political future and possesses the qualities needed to become a minister, backed by strong support from his constituents. This is evident in his four successful elections, with confidence in another win. However, the Chief Minister noted that certain political matters remain confidential.
In response to a reporter's inquiry in Hassan about a recent statement from his son, MLC Yathindra Siddaramaiah, who claimed that Siddaramaiah has contributed more to Mysuru's development than the former Mysuru king Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar, the Chief Minister clarified that he aimed to highlight the unprecedented scale of development he has brought to Mysuru.
Addressing reports that an Under Secretary of the Finance Department indicated no grants or new recruitments could be made for the Hassan City Municipal Corporation for three years, the CM stated that this issue will be reviewed.
