Bengaluru, April 25 (NationPress) The Congress-led administration in Karnataka has revealed plans to initiate Cauvery aarti in the state, modeled after the Ganga aarti, starting this Dasara.
During a press briefing following a meeting on Cauvery aarti with elected officials and representatives, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar stated that a comprehensive plan for the Cauvery aarti event would be finalized within a week, with aspirations to commence this Dasara.
"A committee has been established under the guidance of Minister for Agriculture N. Chaluvarayaswamy to outline the details of the Cauvery aarti. This team will craft a blueprint in the upcoming 8-10 days. We have discussed the essential elements of Cauvery aarti with our leaders and officials.
"The committee comprises representatives from the Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (Chescom), Tourism department, Muzrai department, two district commissioners, local MLAs, MLCs, Zilla Panchayat CEOs, and BWSSB members. Officials from the Irrigation Department will develop the necessary infrastructure for the event," Shivakumar mentioned.
"Our government is allocating Rs 92 crore for the Cauvery aarti, with contributions from other departments as well. We aim to create seating for approximately 10,000 individuals. The committee will determine the duration of the Cauvery aarti celebrations. Various departments have submitted reports on their respective activities, and we will integrate all inputs to finalize the strategy.
"We have already issued tenders to enhance the Brindavan gardens at KRS. Additionally, we plan to establish a Planning Authority comprising four panchayats. This will not interfere with the panchayats' operations. The authority's role will solely focus on planning while ensuring that the profits from this initiative are reinvested in these panchayats," he added.
Seven firms have expressed interest in developing the Brindavan gardens and are currently reviewing proposals. "We have stipulated that bidders prioritize local employment," Shivakumar emphasized.
When inquired about the launch date for the Cauvery aarti, he replied, "I am eager to inaugurate it this Dasara, and we have assembled a committee to prepare the blueprint. We will see how swiftly the committee can present its plans."
In response to questions regarding the Cauvery aarti location, he stated, "We have examined potential sites and are consulting with the technical committee as well. The chosen location must be near water and provide ample parking and seating space. There must also be accommodations for artists, and boating facilities will need to be arranged. The Committee will make the final decision on this."
When asked if there would be an entry fee for the Cauvery aarti, he confirmed, "There will be both paid and complimentary entry options. We cannot deny access to those in need. The public will have the opportunity to offer prayers."
Addressing concerns about the Cauvery aarti potentially affecting the KRS dam, he noted, "We will engage in discussions with organizations that have expressed opposition. Their concerns must be addressed."
Regarding issues of encroachment and pollution in the Cauvery river, he stated, "All dams have been surveyed via drones and marked for maximum levels. The department has been instructed to audit the assets."
