Vijayanagara (Karnataka), May 20 (NationPress) Congress leader Rahul Gandhi proclaimed on Tuesday that his party aims for Karnataka to become the inaugural state in the nation where every landowner possesses official records. He addressed a vast audience at the 'Sadhana Samavesha' event held in Hospet town, Vijayanagara district, to commemorate two years of the Congress-led administration in Karnataka.
Rahul Gandhi remarked, "I urge the Congress party's state and district committees to guarantee that all landowners lacking recognized land rights are granted property deeds."
"Every family should possess their land records. Our goal is for Karnataka to be the first state where every landowner has proper documentation," he reaffirmed.
In honor of this milestone, documentation for land ownership is being distributed to one lakh families, he stated.
Gandhi further noted that this initiative was a vision of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
"We have made significant progress. Two thousand habitations have been designated as revenue villages. I have emphasized the need for digital records of land ownership," he added.
He highlighted that impoverished families often endure years without receiving land ownership records. "In the 21st century, we require a digital registry. Individuals will have a physical copy of their land records and will also be able to access digital copies as needed. This initiative will support disadvantaged communities such as Adivasis, Dalits, and Other Backward Classes," he emphasized.
"I have learned that another 50,000 families in Karnataka still lack land records. We aim to ensure that within six months, they too receive proper documentation. Already, 2,000 habitations have been declared revenue villages, and soon, an additional 500 will be included," Rahul Gandhi announced.
"No one should be without land records in Karnataka," he asserted.
He also recalled, "During our discussions on the five guarantees, another concern emerged -- millions of individuals are without land ownership. Dalit and Adivasi villages were not acknowledged as revenue villages. These individuals have resided on their land for generations but lack ownership documents. This situation affects people of all castes and religions."
"I brought this issue to the attention of Congress leaders, emphasizing that in Karnataka, anyone who owns land should possess proper ownership records. Today, I am pleased to announce that we have fulfilled the sixth guarantee," he stated.
Rahul Gandhi mentioned that the Congress government in Karnataka has marked two years in office. "We made five significant promises during the elections. The BJP and the Prime Minister claimed these guarantees were unattainable," he remarked.
"The first guarantee, Gruha Lakshmi, provides Rs 2,000 monthly to women who are heads of families. I am pleased to report that the Karnataka government is directly depositing money into the accounts of millions of women," he said.
"Millions of households are receiving 200 units of free electricity under Gruha Jyothi. Under the Anna Bhagya scheme, four crore individuals are receiving 10 kilograms of rice each. Under Shakti, the free bus travel initiative for women, the Karnataka government has facilitated 500 crore free journeys. Under Yuva Nidhi, the fifth guarantee, three lakh unemployed youth are receiving Rs 3,000 each. We promised that we would put money into the bank accounts of the poor, and today, thousands of crores have been transferred," he stated.
"This money is utilized for children's education and healthcare. We want your funds to flow directly into your accounts. The BJP seeks to give money to a select few. Our aim is for Karnataka’s poor, OBCs, and Adivasis to receive these benefits," he added.
"When we place money in your hands, you invest it in the market. This boosts production and stimulates economic activities at the village level, strengthening Karnataka’s economy," Rahul Gandhi concluded.
"The BJP enriches billionaires. These wealthy individuals won’t invest in villages -- they possess properties abroad. Under the BJP model, your wealth is concentrated among a few," he asserted.
"The BJP model eliminates job opportunities. Our approach fosters employment. If you fall ill, the BJP model drives you into debt, while ours offers financial assistance. The BJP allocates lakhs of crores to private universities, compelling many families to take loans. Our model redistributes money to the people," Rahul Gandhi concluded.
