Is Kavitha Preparing to Resign from MLC?

Hyderabad, Sep 2 (NationPress) Kalvakuntla Kavitha, who faced suspension from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) by her father and party president K. Chandrasekhar Rao, is expected to step down from the Telangana Legislative Council prior to revealing her future plans.

She has arranged a press conference on Wednesday where she may announce her next steps, likely under the banner of Telangana Jagruthi, a cultural organization she has led since 2008.

As news of Kavitha's suspension circulated, a crowd of her supporters and Telangana Jagruthi workers gathered at her home to express their support, chanting slogans against BRS leaders along with former ministers T. Harish Rao and Jagadish Reddy.

Following the leak of her letter to her father in May, Kavitha has been spearheading protest initiatives on various matters through Telangana Jagruthi.

She, alongside fellow Telangana Jagruthi leaders and volunteers, conducted a hunger strike demanding the implementation of 42 percent reservation for Backward Classes (BCs) in the forthcoming local body elections. Kavitha has shown her disagreements with the party by backing the Congress government's move to introduce an ordinance for the Backward Class reservation.

On August 21, while on a personal trip to the United States, Kavitha expressed her concerns regarding the election of BRS leader Koppula Eshwar as honorary president of the Telangana Boggu Gani Karmika Sangham (TBGKS), a trade union representing coal mine workers.

Kavitha also questioned the legitimacy of the election conducted at the BRS office, Telangana Bhavan.

In a letter directed at TBGKS workers, she claimed that the election was executed in breach of labor regulations.

For the past decade, she has held the honorary presidency of TBGKS, which is regarded as a significant entity among employees of the state-owned Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) and played a pivotal role during the Telangana agitation.

In the meantime, female leaders within BRS have expressed their support for KCR's decision to suspend Kavitha from the party.

Former minister Satyavathi Rathod stated that KCR's action demonstrated that the party's integrity is more important than familial ties. She emphasized that Kavitha, as KCR's daughter, once held a respected position within the party but has now tarnished its reputation.

Former MLA G. Sunitha criticized Kavitha’s statement about her indifference towards the party's existence, reminding her of KCR's foundational role in its establishment.

The women leaders conveyed to Kavitha that the party was responsible for her rise as an MP and MLC. They condemned her for her criticisms of former ministers K. T. Rama Rao and T. Harish Rao, suggesting she is being manipulated to undermine the party's image.

Sunitha remarked that Kavitha has jeopardized her own standing by attacking the party, asserting that she will be remembered as one who betrayed it.
