New Delhi, Jan 18 (NationPress) AAP National Convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday expressed his anger towards the Delhi Police and the BJP for allegedly obstructing his party's efforts to present a documentary to journalists regarding an alleged conspiracy that led to the incarceration of party leaders in the excise policy case.

The police stated that they adhered to regulations and halted the screening of the film 'Unbreakable' at an auditorium in ITO, Central Delhi, due to AAP's failure to obtain permission from the election office, despite the Model Code of Conduct being in effect.

While speaking to the media, Kejriwal remarked, “The film was not political and there were no party flags present at the venue, yet the police prohibited its private screening on the basis that proper permission was not secured.”

Accusing the Central government-controlled Delhi Police of overstepping their authority and suspecting the BJP of orchestrating the film's ban, Kejriwal stated, “The BJP is preventing the film's screening out of fear of exposure. The film reveals the BJP’s conspiracy and unlawful actions that resulted in AAP leaders being imprisoned.”

When questioned about future actions, Kejriwal mentioned that AAP is considering its options, and emphasized that no one could prevent a film from reaching the public, subtly hinting at its potential circulation on social media.

The ruling party had arranged for the film's screening at Pyarelal Bhawan at noon. Sources indicated that the documentary showcases AAP’s resilience and how it operated while Kejriwal and other leaders were incarcerated on money laundering charges before their subsequent release.

Earlier, in a post on the social media platform X, Kejriwal stated, “A film has been produced about the Aam Aadmi Party. Today, this film was supposed to be shown to journalists, but the BJP halted the screening by deploying a significant police presence at the venue. The BJP is exceedingly fearful of this film.”

“Why? Why does the BJP wish to obstruct this film? What is it about this film that makes them afraid? This film reveals all the clandestine activities that led to the wrongful arrests of AAP leaders. It uncovers the illegal and unconstitutional behaviors of the BJP government,” Kejriwal said.

The Delhi Police later clarified that once the MCC is implemented, political parties must seek permission for such events through a single-window system at the District Election Officer’s (DEO) office, emphasizing that the police cannot grant or deny such permissions at this time.

Kejriwal rejected the police's explanation. “A film was made about PM Modi by Vivek Agnihotri and screened in cinemas without any permission from the Election Commission,” he pointed out.

The former chief minister also declared that if AAP regains power after the February 5 elections, they will ensure that the benefits of free 20,000 liters of monthly water and free 200 units of monthly electricity are extended to tenants as well.

“Most tenants in Delhi are impoverished individuals from Purvanchal. In certain buildings, there can be as many as 100 tenants. During the current government’s term, there were obstacles in providing free water and electricity services to tenants, but we will eliminate these challenges and implement the program effectively this time,” Kejriwal said.
