Kejriwal Unveils ‘Sanjeevani Yojana’ Offering Free Medical Care for Senior Citizens in Delhi

New Delhi, Dec 18 (NationPress) Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal announced a complimentary healthcare program for the city's senior citizens during an event on Wednesday. This initiative allows seniors to receive free medical services at all government and private hospitals.
Accompanied by Delhi CM Atishi and senior Cabinet officials, Kejriwal declared that residents aged over 60 will benefit from the ‘Sanjeevani Yojana’ for free healthcare.
Although the program is set to provide free treatment for the elderly, it will be enacted only if the AAP regains power in the upcoming elections next year, he stated.
This announcement has been labeled by political opponents as a mere ‘bandaid solution’ coming just months before the Delhi Assembly elections.
While AAP emphasizes that its policies focus on public welfare, the BJP criticizes it as a blatant effort to attract voters through giveaways.
Kejriwal informed the audience that AAP activists will soon visit the homes of residents to assist with registrations for the ‘Sanjeevani Scheme’.
“Once we secure victory in the elections, this initiative will be activated,” he assured.
The AAP’s social media platforms have also been buzzing with Kejriwal’s commitment to free healthcare.
Slogans such as ‘Beta ho toh aisa, Kejriwal jaisa (a son like Kejriwal is a blessing)’ and ‘bina shart milega ilaaj (free treatment without conditions)’ have been shared to create excitement around the party's pledge for free healthcare for senior residents of the city.
Interestingly, the 'Sanjeevani Scheme' was introduced shortly after Kejriwal announced the Mukhya Mantri Mahila Samman Yojna, aimed at benefiting women.
This plan will provide female recipients with monthly financial support of ₹1,000, which is expected to increase to ₹2,100 post-elections.
However, like the Sanjeevani initiative, this promise will only materialize if the AAP is victorious in the forthcoming elections.
The AAP aims to secure a third consecutive full term in Delhi, following a significant win in 2020, where it captured 62 out of 70 seats.
The upcoming elections will serve as a key evaluation of the party's governance approach.
