Kottayam (Kerala), Jan 17 (NationPress) The police in Kerala's Kottayam have initiated an investigation into a disturbing incident involving the forced disrobing and severe torture of a Class 9 student by his peers, officials reported.
The occurrence unfolded at St Thomas School, Pala, in the Kottayam district on January 10.
The boy was subdued by two classmates while others participated in removing his clothing and subsequently torturing him.
This horrifying event was recorded on a mobile phone, and issues arose after the footage was shared publicly.
The father of the victim later filed a complaint, prompting local police to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.
The complaint alleges that seven classmates were involved in this heinous act.
This shocking event follows a series of sexual assaults on a teenage girl in Pathanamthitta district of the state.
The girl was reportedly assaulted by approximately 62 individuals, leading a Special Investigation Team to file 29 cases and detain at least 44 suspects, including three minors and four students preparing for their Class 12 examinations next month. The SIT has identified several suspects living abroad, with most of the detainees aged between 17 and 28.
The victim reported that she was exploited in various locations, such as remote rubber plantations and vehicles, starting when she was just 13 years old, by acquaintances, coaches, senior athletes, and others who took advantage of her role as a sportswoman.
This case came to light during a counseling session organized by the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) after teachers noted changes in her behavior. During this session, she revealed the extent of her abuse, prompting the CWC to inform the Pathanamthitta district police chief.
