Kochi, Aug 5 (NationPress) Just a week after a prominent IT executive lodged a complaint against his former employee and her spouse for alleged blackmail and threats involving a significant sum of money, a new case was filed against him on Tuesday. This followed a counter-complaint from the woman, who accused him of sexual harassment.
This latest twist comes only a week after a local court granted bail to the Kochi couple, just hours after their arrest by the Ernakulam Central Police.
The individuals involved, named Krishna Raj and his wife, are said to have blackmailed and ensnared Venu Gopalakrishnan, the CEO of Litmus7, a prominent IT firm located within the Infopark campus, compelling him to transfer Rs 50,000 into their account.
According to Gopalakrishnan’s allegations, the couple even pressured him into signing two cheques of Rs 10 crore each made out to them.
The woman had previously worked at his company but had recently resigned.
Post-resignation, the couple allegedly conspired to fabricate a false case, subsequently threatening the businessman and demanding Rs 30 crore.
They cautioned him that if he did not comply, she would claim he was having an extramarital affair with her and that he had sexually assaulted her.
Following Gopalakrishnan’s complaint, both individuals were arrested on July 30.
However, they secured bail on the same day. The current development emerged on Tuesday when the Kochi police filed a case against Gopalakrishnan in light of the woman's allegations of sexual harassment and making threats.
In her formal complaint, she claimed that only after she indicated her intention to report Gopalakrishnan to the internal complaints committee of the IT firm did he allegedly frame them in a false honey trap case.
With a case now registered against Gopalakrishnan, alongside the ongoing investigation into the couple, two separate investigative teams are reportedly considering a collaborative approach to advance the inquiries.
